For the past few years i make sure to clean the screen with a proper window cleaner (lidl's screen wash not the anti feeze version is brill, add to washer bottle too) and water solution and also clean the blades at the same time when i give the car it's weekly wash.
Normal wash/wax car wash solutions do build up on the blades themselves and ingrain into micro cracks and scratches that inevitably build up over the years on the screen.
Not only do you get a lovely clear swept screen when it's raining, the wiper blades last for donkeys years too.
Another tip is to leave the wipers in the up position if you have safe parking at home, helps relieve the 'lean' that the blades develop in their parked position, if you can't leave them upright lean them the other way every now and again.0 -

Don't buy your wiperblades from Halford's though. I got exactly the same Bosch blades delivered within 3 days from an online shop and saved about 40-50% on the Halford's price0 -
Halfrauds would charge nearer £25 for a pair of blades and rain repellant is only a bonus if the wipers dont work which defeats the object!i hate squeaky blades . i find good quality blades , and a good rain repellant work well .
