Using a sim card from a v3i in a v3im?

I have a v3i on an o2 monthly contract but have seen a v3im on o2 PAYG (the handsets are apparently identical except the v3im has iTunes support).
Can I just put my o2 monthly simcard into the PAYG handset or will there be locking/compatibility issues?
Any advice appreciated
