Well I got my milk & bread and now have a grand sum of £3.49 left. I don't think I am actually going to make it cos OH said that we have run out of rice crispies which he eats every day and said he will buy a chicken for roasting Sunday. He said I could always cheat and say he bought it Monday! The thing is, if we are all to be having roast chicken Sunday then we will also need some more potatoes and veg. Oh well, I really had high hopes for this month but don't think now it will be possible. Still it will be far better than previous months!

Here goes ... i have a grand total of 43p of £250 budget to last further 6 days!!!.Have just sorted through freezer ,have just enough bread and milk in there to last. Could do this in theory if everyone sticks to my planned meals and stop raiding the fridge!.Two concerns dd will only eat mild cheese have only a little left and can i really stay away from shops for six days :rotfl:. On plus side since joining in feb have reduced by amount by £50 and this month even managed to include party food, cake for dd birthday and payed for autumn term milk, fruit and first 2 days of sept school meals for two children, so feeling quite chuffed even if do go over a little.:D

  • Hi all, just a quick update for July. I have been reading but had visitors quite a lot so not got around to posting for a while. We are currently sitting at a spend of £190.51 for the month - shame I can't remember how much I decided to set my budget at! We've also had 2 first birthday parties so I've taken cards and presents off the total.

I thought we'd spent much more than this, having had a family of 5 stay for the first weekend, inlaws for 4 days, and the odd overnight visitor, so lots of bacon sandwiches made this month! Managed to fill everyone up with lovely fresh poached eggs from our hens so that's helped to keep things down a bit. We also had a supermarket pizza night one night - DH thought it would be a nice treat but I couldn't help thinking how much a Tesco Finest pizza and garlic bread, ice cream costs compared to a home made one! Never mind - much cheaper than stopping at Pizza Express or getting a takeaway I suppose. And it WAS nice to not have to cook after looking after visitors so much.

I'll have to go through my posts and see what I decided to put down this month, but I think it was about £250. Still £60ish to go - easily do-able (she says). We've stocked up this month on soap powder and conditioner, toiletries, baking supplies and dry goods so I might try for £220 next month - just to make things interesting!

Take care all! Love reading about everyone's own personal challenges.

    DFS

We now have enough food in the fridge and freezer to last for main meals, only need shop bread (DH won't eat HM:() some fruit juice and milk for the next ten days.
