havent shopped at asda for many years as our asda went downhill. would it be worth trying as an on line shop - is it cheaper that other supermarkets? Hoping someone will shop there and maybe tesco so they could give advice?
thankyou x
:A Hi there we go to tesco and scan as we shop and have got our shopping right down to £50 a week including fruit, veg and meat. Scanning helps and we only use the value brands also. In fact last week it was £38 the shop, but my OH got other stuff we needed to get it up to £50 so we got our 5p a litre off fuel. if you have an Aldi near you they are excellent too..
Tips - Always do a menu plan for the week.
Tips - Then do shopping list ref menu checking what you have got in cupboards, fridge and freezer... :rotfl:
Hope this helps.:A Want2Bdebtfree

Thanks, I thought we only used value or discounted range, but having just looked thru cupboards there are things that could be down branded as this month in a week we have spent £160, and there is nothing to show for it! aiming for around £50, which many moons ago we managed! xMum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -

Hi, just popping in to update my spends so far £90.02 in a variety of shops. Have done a bit of stocking up so I'm hoping I'll now only need fresh stuff before payday on the 15th to bring me back into line. DH has been prowling round the last couple of nights complaining there's no food that he fancies but when I try to pin him down on specifics he "doesn't know" I suppose I'd better make sure there's something tasty tonight before he resorts to a takeaway!
Off to catch up on everyone elses news and steal some ideas for my meal plan.

Just placed an Approved Order and the shopping came to £15.70 ecxcluding delivery...i was going to add the delivery on but have decided against it. I have decided to use the car less and since i won;t be grocery shopping in supermarkets very often, that won't be a problem...so it all equals itself out somehow. £84.30 left for the month of July!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

I used to think nothing of spending £120 a week on food shops frightening and could add to why I am in the mess I am in!!!!
Also Te$co are doing 5p off a litre of fuel until sunday so I always make sure I hit the £50 to get it then have alighter shop next week if necessary.
Another value I intend to try being happy with the conditioner is their value shampoo... 11p abottle! I have just taken the label off the conditioner.... NSD x 2:A
Car failed it's MOT in April, and I can't afford to get it fixed or get a new one, but I do use soap, and I'll give the shampoo a go too - thanks
By the way Te$co Value Strawberry Jelly currently @ 6p is very nice, as is the 29p fruit cocktail sold in A$da, imho, and doesn't half help the cost of trifle if you make your ownhi everyone im in a good mood today, i went for a job interview today and got the job :j:j:j wont be starting till August because i have 3 days training at the end of July.

hello all fellow food challengers
just placed my 2nd approved food order and amended sig.
Cant drive as arm in plaster,,its so frustrating,,i cant even use fingers sticking out the bottom of cast its too painful,,,however with one hand and determination i made a wholemeal loaf with sunflower and poppy seeds! It was a bit messy ,,i chucked it all in food processor, kneaded for ages in there, then tipped it out and squished into a loaf shape,,after proving in sun for a bit glazed it and baked it,,,,,,,,i really found it hard cutting a slice!!! squashed it up against my tummy haha
methinks the weight will creep on whilst inactive!
Hubby taking me to lidl later for some bits we need for the week, i really really hope i can stick to challenge set this month.
good luck all
anyone got any one armed recipes?? :ji may try shortbread tomorrowLife happens when you are busy making other plans

:A It is amazing when u look but I hve also really found the difference in toilet cleaner, use daisy washing tablets instead of my old brand, value brand all purpose cleaner, antibacterial liquid soap value at pence is great!!! U can do it... its amazing how we manage... plus for salad get a couple of pots stick in some compost and mixed salad leaves and by august u will be picking ur own. mine is now all coming together so I will not be needing lettuce, beetroot, spring onions and radishes for a while. Love gardening grow my veg in my flower bed... saves on the shopping bill : )
