I got some bags of the sweets but its a mixed bag of teeth and lips so I'm thinkin of using the teeth for my Mum and Aunt as they have false teeth.

In a small jar ribbon and bow etc and then a small ditty along the lines of Spare Teeth, Open in emergency or something I'm not quite sure yet, any ideas? Oh was going to put a small childs toothbrush with the jar aswell

Glad you found some suitable sweets!

As for a poem how about changing this one around slightly to read Mother/Aunt:-

    'Granddad's Wayward Teeth'

When granddad last came round for tea,
    Whilst eating steak and chips,
His false teeth popped right out his mouth,
And gave us all the slip!

We glimpsed them fall down to the floor,
    And heard them chatter fast.
Then before we knew what happened,
Through the cat flap they had passed!

As granddad sat, all gums and lips,
Dad sprang up and he gave chase!
But those ivories had moved so quick,
    They'd gone without a trace!

Now granddad's got a nice new pair,
That he locks up in a jar.
    And his missing gnawing gnashers,
    Send him postcards from afar!

  • Thanks Chocmonster, thats good. How about

When Granny last came round for tea
    Whilst eating up her dinner
Her false teeth popped right out her mouth
And then they done a runner

    Xmas Saver!
digressing completely, but think the false teeth poems are brilliant, reminded me of an incident dad had many yrs ago, (just realised ova 20yrs ago - showing me age!!)

We were on holiday and he had coconut ice, this one bit was very chewy, got stuck to his false teeth, thought no more of, he came swimming with me, small outdoor pool, at the time was the focal point of the site and that was when we had summer in August!! - the piece of coconut ice came back to haunt him, he flicked it with his toungue, the teeth came out flying and landed on the bottom of the pool, the poor lifeguard had to get everyone out, I couldn't go under water - so this kid of about 10.... went and got his dad to come out with the goggles and dive to the bottom of the pool to get them.. (it was only 6ft deep!!) xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Just been to Asda & looked out for the cheap curry sauce for the jars (9p I think ) but before I could get to it I saw the jars of smart price red cabbage reduced to just 4p was 15p so I nabbed lots of that instead. 4p for a jar is a bargain in my books.
The lids have text printed only in the centre so the edges are crips white & won't interferre with blinging up before gifting.
The labels are stuck on so haven't tried to remove them yet but if I have to add my own label over it I can live with that.

Tips on cleaning the lids to rid it of the smell? The jars will clean up nice in the dishwasher.
  • I know it kind of defeats the purpose of the thread but whilst in Aldi I noticed they had really large jars of jam, marmalde in nice jars, labels etc for 50p. Not as rewarding I'm sure , but soooo much easier

This is what i did with the teeth , and I have half a jar of lips just to fill with hearts I bought a large multi bag of Haribos and only got 5 hearts from them. If anyone spies any jelly hearts anywhere please let me know

I made up celophane bags with the rest of the haribos and filled a Jar with Jelly beans just need to think what to do with them, was thinking of just labelling them for the kids and calling them jumping beans or magic beans

I have two of the large jars, thinking of filling with retro sweets for my OH and sister

How much are you wanting to spend or in weight. I can def get them from cash & carry or our indoor market sells them by the 1/4 so could get some to you just you need to trust I am clean & not gonna lick them all first....I wouldn't of course.

Offer is there should you need to fall back on it.
  • I trust you Hogshead, but would that then make them cheaper cos there secondhand..... I reckon a good sized tub would be between £6-£10 and I should more than enough jars from them (may need to change this to bags if can't get the cheap jars)

Thanks for the offer, that's very kind of you, I'll bear it in mind, I've just submitted a Makro membership form online as my old one is probably defunked by now, hopefully they'll have them

I just bought 11 mini bags of starmix from Morrisons for £1, I was examing all the packets to try get the ones with lots of hearts in them, I'm sure the other shoppers thought I was upto something. I just want to get this one jar finished so I have an end product so to speak , then I have a few weeks to get the sweets and more Jars, if the poundshop still has them

And I need to restrain myself from eating whats left form the bags once I've got the hearts

Saw a set of 4 shaped jars in Asda today with silver lids for £2. They were packaged up in a black cardboard sleeve so 50p ea.
