  • Thanks Hogshead, Yeah the one place I am think is only open at weekends so i'll check it out.

Think I'll be cheaper just getting the jars myself, I have a costco card but they haven't had them, I think Makro is best for sweets, only ever visit them at christmas time, so best get myself over.

I figured once we start making them my daughter will want to give them to everyone

Nicola do you have a market stall in your area?
We have an indoor all year round & they have the jars of sweets so you can buy only the jellies you want & I'm certain I've see the lips & hearts. failing that a cash & carry ( if you know someone who has access ) as I get the tuck sweets & they are def in there.
  • Have to admit I am so impatient , I want to get started straight away. What's the shelf life like on the vodka etc, will the flavour change. An I assume the jams an chutney will only get better with age.

I'm earmarking the October week holiday as a time to get started. My youngest is at nursery two days but my eldest will be at home to help out, well she's 6 maybe help isn't the right word.

I need to write a list of everything that's needed (does anyone have a to do list already for the jams etc...) and get some stuff on bay to raise the funds to go buy everything

My problem is I start looking on here an then my mind wanders as I start looking at all the other threads an getting loads more ideas an then I don't know where to start

It's lunchtime an all i have done is flit between MSE pages, best go get housework done

Aldi have a great range of sweets and they are quite cheap. I bought a bag of Wine Gums, 260gms for 49p in there this week. Think I've seen the lips in there too so worth checking if you have a store locally. :)
  • Chocmonster thanks I can stop at Aldi's when im on the school run on Wednesdsy
  • Just found these on Asda

    http://direct.asda.com/Asda-Set-of-3-Tins/001413014,default,pd.html

    Thinking of using the 3 of them and stacking in a tower tied with ribbon. Rectangular - L26 x W18.5 x D9cm, Square - L18 x W18 x D8cm, Round - D15 x D4.5cm

large one - small btl of wine and glass maybe, or the flavoured vodka / other alcoholic item
smaller one fill with jam, chutney, other foodie things, depending on the size
and the round one fill with homemade buscuits

    What do you's think??

  • fedupskint did you find them in Asda?? Are they any good, was thinkin it might be easier to order online but I grudge paying delivery charges, I think I've got an email voucher from them for discount on delivery ( if I can find it)
  • On my way to Aldi's now, I bet I come back with more than just the sweets I'm looking for

  • I got some bags of the sweets but its a mixed bag of teeth and lips so I'm thinkin of using the teeth for my Mum and Aunt as they have false teeth.

In a small jar ribbon and bow etc and then a small ditty along the lines of Spare Teeth, Open in emergency or something I'm not quite sure yet, any ideas? Oh was going to put a small childs toothbrush with the jar aswell

I just need to find the hearts now. What do you's use for snowman poop, mini marshmallow or mint imperials??
