Dell Laptop keeps shutting down, please help

Agree with others on the overheating diagnosis. My nephew bought a new Inspiron 15r not long ago and he's been having some problems as mentioned here. Can't use it on the bed as it virtually self-combusts. Also, his skirt got caught on the edge of the screen and ripped off the bezel which was of course held on with double-sided sticky tape in true Dell style.
I warned him right from the start that Dell's are cheap sh|tbox machines (along with Acer's) but he wouldn't listen and bought it anyway. *sigh*0 -
If it is a cooling problem I am 90% sure I used the following web page and loaded the program there into a Inspirion 8500 solved crashing problems by better controling fans. At a quick look your machine is not covered but the page itself is old and there is a forum of users which I have not fullu checked through, so it may be a solution. You may want to wait until other more experienced users on here give their opinions of using this program. Be sure to set a restore point before installing if you decide to do this.
