What to benefit to claim?

Hello, I'm new here.
Really would like advice on what to claim for daughter who will be 18 soon. Has anxiety problems, never goes out without me. She is hoping to go to college in september, but if this is not possible due to anxiety and panic attacks what benefit would be best to go for?
Would she get ESA or DLA?
All advice would be appreciated.

She may qualify for ESA and DLA, but more importantly, is she getting help for her anxiety problems? If treated early, she could be better for September?

DLA is based on care and /or mobility needs.
ESA is given to those who can't work due to disability. It's possible to be paid oth or either.

    Hi dmg24,sh1305,
She has had problems since being bullied at school when she was 12. She had counselling but didn't help. She only has one friend who also does not go out, has own probs. I try to help as much as possible, but she does not want to go to doctors.
We had chat with Tutor at college last week and she is very understanding. Main problem will be when I can't take her and she has to get a bus, but we will work on this before she starts in september.
If anyone in similar situation has any advice of tips please let me know. Thanks x

If she is still under 18 she could be referred to the CAMHS Team. The team can help her (and you) with her problems and help with applying for benefits. ESA in particular is a difficult benefit to claim, and I would doubt that anxiety alone (although I know how debiliatating it can be) would be sufficient for her to pass the medical (after thirteen weeks).

My biggest concern would be that claiming benefits so young tends to set a pattern for life. She clearly has a lot of support from you, but if she possibly can I would look at ways of overcoming the barriers rather than claiming.

Are you still claiming CTC and CB at present?

Another organisation that may be helpful is the Princes Trust.

Has she tried other types of therapy, such as CBT?

In my area, The Shaw Trust help people with disabilities and/or anxiety issues to use public transport. This can include having an advisor meet the person at home, get the bus with them each day and walk to college/work. This then paters down (meet at the end of the street, meet at the bus stop, etc) until the person can cope with public transport alone. They will also help in other ways to enable people to live a 'normal' life. It is a free service.

Thanks kingfisherblue, this is just what she needs. I have googled The Shaw Trust and there is one in my town, I will look into.

Also she will have a support worker at college, hoping they may help with actually getting her in the door so to speak.
She did go to cahms while still at school, but they dropped her when she left. I will look into The Princes Trust as well, thanks dmg24.
