Demise of the last 7%er...

I am in mourning for the demise of my last 7%er (principality 2year fix @ 7.15%) -when it matures next week. :( (Mmm -Where to put it ..)

Anyone got any still going? :)

I had a 7%er FirstSave fixed rate bond mature last week, didn't get to renew it at maturity as it just said on their website:

"Due to the success of recent issues, Fixed Rate Bonds are currently unavailable until further notice"

When I spoke to FirstSave they said they have not been offering fixed rate bonds for several months and don't know when they will be again. So took the money out at maturity and at the moment just holding it in my Tesco savings account until something else comes along that is worth fixing at. Don't want to fix at 1 year at the moment, as not much difference between 1 year fix rate bonds and easy access savings accounts.

I have got one 7%er still going. I took out a 3 year Kaupthing Egde savings bond paying 7.67% gross in 2008 which got taken over by ING, it matures Sept 2011.

    Doesn't it mature 26/6/10 ?

Putting some into the Principality 3.41% 18 month fixed rate - the rest I'm keeping on instant (A&L 2.81%)

I had maturity as 30th June - but they advise me its 7th July. I know they gave you a month after it closed, if you had already printed the form, to get your money in - so presumably that's how long it took them to setup the account -must have had a last minute rush.

I think for now it will get spread between 3% + instant access accounts and some more NSI index linked certs (now that VAT is deffo going up)

I have the same, maturing Oct 2011. I think those will have been the last lot of 7%ers.
  • My last one is 7.05% with Stroud and Swindon, maturing in September.

Although I haven't seen it publicised here, Nationwide currently have a three year fix at 4%, which is not bad if you think interest rates are going to take a while to rise, but still not a patch on those 6% and 7% offers of a couple of years back.

I have a chunk with Anglo Irish at 7% maturing in Nov. Seems like the good ol' days with plenty of stress thrown into the mix (was with kaupthing).

No, but if we hold another contest for the 6 percenters, I may be in with a chance. ;)
