The person who has legal title to the vehicle is NOT the person "registered" on the V5C - that's just the registered keeper which is NOT the same as the legal owner.
If you bought the car then it's yours, regardless of what name is on the V5C...
I didn't strictly buy it. The insurance money was used plus a top up I gave her. I waived my right to it - it was a gift (the money).0 -
Sorry to say it, but it does sound like she is taking you for a ride. It does all seem very one sided.0

Please please try to understand what you are stating. You are in a lot of debt and very worried about this but you make a large money gift using money that you are probably not entitled to."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

ILW - that is a really quite horrible thing to say when you don't personally know all the circumstances nor us personally. Nobody is being taken for a ride, i'm merely looking after the woman I love.0

Fine, but you are getting yourself into an unsustainable amount of debt to do it, which will do neither of you good in the long run. You have to bear in mind what will happen when it all hits the buffers and the cars and everything else have to go. Address it now before it gets even more out of hand.0 -
Thanks ILW. So from all i've gleaned my only option is to continue paying the full amount to welcome right?0

Playing the 'i'm vulnerable card' is not going to make this go away.
It's also not going to make people give advice just to keep you happy.
Your story makes no sense either.
Why would the car being written off have anything to do with you not being able to pay Welcome the money you owe them?wolvesfanuk wrote: »ILW - that is a really quite horrible thing to say when you don't personally know all the circumstances nor us personally. You are dropping yourself further in the sheite.wolvesfanuk wrote: »Thanks ILW. So from all i've gleaned my only option is to continue paying the full amount to welcome right?
Sorry, but i don't think anyone has the faintest idea what you are asking or what answer you would like to hear.0 -
I'm not trying to get out of it :S I just wanted to know from the people in the know if there was a manageable way I can do things. When it comes to Welcome clearly I can't so I will struggle on. Thank you for all the advice and seeya.0

My partner could never afford to pay for a car herself. The money paid out wasn't anywhere near enough to cover the finance with Welcome. The car bought in replacement was 3k not that it's really the issue.
I just wanted advice as per the original post
By the sounds of it, neither could you! Secondly, paying 3k for a replacement, when you could have found a car for say 2k and using the rest to keep the finance company off your back for a while, IS the thing dragging you down. The finance company will be coming after you I'm afraid. Try to come to some sort of arrangement to pay the debt off in the short-term, as your girlfriend is suing for personal injury, it would be prudent, if she wins her case, that she uses the money to clear the debt off in full.
