House opposite a pub?
Comments
-
I lived two doors down from a pub, and now I live about 200 yards away from one. My ex husband used to work away a lot, and the landlord used to keep an eye on me to check things were ok. I always felt safe knowing there were people around. I didn't have any problems selling, and I used to frequent the pub regularly.
Once I had my daughter, we used to pop in and he would get her an ice-cream from his kitchen for her. It was great.
Check what the landlord's like - if he/she is friendly and respects the pub and the behaviour of the public, then you shouldn't have a problem.Forever I will sail towards the horizon with you0 -
We live 250ish yards from a busyish pub and it is no problem most of the time.EXCEPT on bank hols, entertainment evenings, bonfire night, new years eve, christmas eve, summer hols etc etc.Bank hols are the worst! THEN it is a total pain in the !!!!!.
You get !!!!!! up people wandering down your street, drunken rows, bottles on the ground,LOUD music and cars parked all over the street,at worst police cars and meat wagons.
Personally I wouldn't buy so close to a pub againNew Year~New Start!!

I think a lot depends on what you're used to. Every house i've ever lived in has been on a main road, so I actually find it difficult to sleep if it's too quiet!
I have also lived next to a pub, although it's more of a family restaurant these days, which obviously gets busy during the day at weekends. Other than that, there were no problems - it's quite an expensive pub to drink in (city prices in the suburbs!) so you don't get the chavs getting sloshed on barcardi breezers.
If I were looking at a house, and it happened to be near a pub, I wouldn't say it would put me off necessarily, but I do think it's a sensible idea to check out the area at different times of the day and week. Also, any light sleepers or those with children should probably give it a miss. Me - i'd sleep through pretty much anything0
