Could be a pretty effective solution to the problem and save the country a fortune0

Anyone with an addiction (drug) should be sent on a 6 month detox courtesy of HMP, via a dry out clinic. 2 months in the clinic to get straightened out, before you hit the cells and experience cold turkey the hard way, in solitary for the remainder of your 6 months.
Where are all these clinics and cells going to come from or the money to provide them? This goverment is allready saying they have too many people in prison and less should be sent.

You spill out venom and glee at the the prospect of all the changes you think are going to happen to people on beneifits (without showing any knowledge of how the system works now) because we have a new goverment. I have this horrible feeling you are going to be very dissappointed in a few years time.
Every new goverment comes in saying how they are going to get to grips with the welfare system, make it more fair for the genuine and weed out the ones who are taking the mickey with no intention of working. It's all words, yes people will be move around from one benefit to another, some of the genuine will suffer, the fakers will take it in there stride and just work their way around the new rules. Benefits will be given brand new names and loads of words will go in to print heralding a new age of welfare reform. Reality is that not much will change, the ones they get back into work would have made there own way there sooner of later under any benefit system, hopefully if any good comes out of this change, they will be given help to get there quicker. The recidivists with no intention of working will still be there surviving, if not on benefits they'll find other ways but it's unlikely to be the sort of gainful employment you think of.
So chill, all this spite and tension inside yourself can not be good for your own health, forget the rest of the world if it helps your peace of mind, enjoy your life with your partner, work for the luxuries in life in the happy knowledge you've earned them by your own hard work, know you are living your life to the full. The implementation of ESA was delayed, exactly because of this. The government felt that an easy winner would be to target those with addiction issues. The roll out of ESA was delayed as there weren't enough treatment programmes to support addicts. The idea being that addicts would then have to comply with the treatment programme in order to maintain entitlement to benefits.mbga9pgf from your posts I get the impression you are either not very old or at least not very mature? I have to say as well, some of the recent posts prior to Mrs Bones border on sick & highlight nothing other thanUnfortunately the main thisng you are highlighting in your posts is a genuine lack of understanding about the benefits system, what it entails, how it operates, how it affects people. I'd encourage you to carry out a bit more research (other than reading the daily mail) on why we actually have a benefits system, how it works, & who it relates to.It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Perhaps if people didnt ignore the law of the land and instead chose a path of hard drugs the state wouldnt have to bear the brunt of the problem.
All I see in this country is snivelling whinges about how we need to protect people.
People dont need protecting, they need a bl00dy good kick up the !!!!.
Heroin addicts should be given implants, trialled in the US, which effectively null the impact of heroin on the body.

Why should citizens feel any responsibilty for those that chose to render themselves unemployable by conciously choosing to take drugs are alcohol to the point of addiction. There are enough people with serious illneses and disabilities contracted through no fault of their own who should be given priority.0

The scary thing is that up until a few years ago, I felt exactly the same way and was just as vitriolic about benefit claimants, no matter why they were claiming.
It took my circumstances changing for it to hit home...and we thought we had the upper hand, savings put by to protect against the worse, worked hard, had a good career etc.
It has been a very humbling experience.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Someone with a major addiction problem isn't going to get that problem fixed by going to prison. They are more likely to end up wanting to do a hell of a lot more drugs after their prison experience.
They may well be sick. & if we can help them overcome the sickness, they can become productive members of society.
Remember that they have got to the stage where it is the drug using them, rather than them using the drug.

And some are just plain too sick to work......in any job.
I think the incapacity benefit system is seriously out of date.
it looks at what is "wrong" with someone, not what they can do.
For example, it's often much harder to get IB with even the most serious mental health problems, but lose part of a leg and it's almost automatic. It's all based on an assumption of working in a mine or a factory....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
