I do wonder if manufacturers have made modern cars more difficult to park (due to shape and visibility issues) just so they can sell us parking sensors?

For some reason people have decided that they would like there cars to remain sort of car shaped when they roll over insted crumpling like a stack of cards.

I wonder if parking sensors would pick up the pedestrian that's just fallen over as they were about to cross the road:A

I did drive a new Toyota with a rear view camera. Better in all respects, you can see if it's working and ensures you don't switch off. Didn't like the automatic park thingy tho'

I quite like them - had them fitted on my car because... well I could lol and I was worried about visibility issues.

They are useful for some reason it always looks like I am parked closer (rear) than I really am must be the tint on the window lol :), so the sensors allow me to go back a lil further without the need to get out and check.

Although the other day it was going off whilst reverse parking, I knew I wasnt near anything but was still cautious (and kept going) lol

If someone doesn't know the size of the vehicle they are driving, I'd suggest they shouldn't be in control of it in the first place.

I know how big my car is but I find reverse parking sensors one of the most useful features. There are times when you just cant see some obstacles and knowing how big your car is wont help you if you cant see where such an obstacle is.

Update: I took the car back to the dealer I bought it from and he fixed it free of charge. One of the sensors had gone and when one goes the whole system stops, so I'm glad I took it back.

Same with my experience nobby. I had a broken wire on a front sensor and the whole system shut down.
