Won't happen. VW warranty allows only an Authorised repairer to fix it (dealer!), the money comes from VW's pocket, not the dealer, so they'll do it that way

sorry does that mean that i should be able to get it fixed at my local VW rather than having to travel?

Does the OP have a VW warranty though?

Assuming VW's used program is like Skoda's you'll have bought a VW Approved Used car and the warranty is underwritten by VW UK themselves - so you can take it to any VW dealer for repair.

Exactly that, so it's warranty lasts a year reguardless of age, but never the less should have been picked up and rectified at the pre-delivery inspection (PDI).

As should the faulty wiper linkage on the Astra I bought from a Skoda dealer in January - I have a feeling they might've missed it in order to claim the repair cost under the warranty.... especially since it passed a MOT the day before I picked it up

There is a slim chance it went wrong after the MOT, but suspect you may be right with the warranty claim... :shhh:

Chances are the previous owner used it to clear snow from the windscreen in December before they traded it in :rotfl:

I know someone who had a warranty claim denied by Vauxhall for the same fault, claiming that driver abuse was the cause. Cost £350

    Ouch

Hopefully it will be a 'known' potential fault, and will get sorted no problems.

The Skoda Approved warranty is very good - so hopefully the OP won't have any difficulty with the VW equivelant - I've had 2 claims since I bought the car.

Trading it in this week though :rotfl:
