Hi All
Throughout the last few months and last year we have added new skirting to all the rooms in the house.. now I'm finding all the corners we filled with fillers are starting to crack!
Is this just the weather / house movement?! If i fill it will it happen again?!

Thanks for your replies
We used a mixture of mitre and scribing of the joints.. i used plenty of filler or so I thought!
I think its the house to be honest, natural movement.. we had new plaster and have some hairline cracks. Probably the change in weather too?0 -
happens every year, in a heat wave. the house dries out and shrinks by mm,s.
also the ground dries out and you get slight movement.
nothing to worry about. its normal.Get some gorm.0 -
I usually whack a couple of lost head nails in my mitres as well as some wood glue to try ensure they do stay together. If done well the only filler you should need is between wall and skirting and any screw/nail holes. Best to always use a flexible filler along any joins liable to open up with expansion/contraction. For nail and screw holes i've discovered (by experimentation!) that Loctite epoxy repair putty is really good stuff (if a little expensive) - you could try some of that i suppose but you'd have to repaint.0

Rake out the filler and replace with decorator's caulk.0
