Just popping in quickly before going to do the garden at a holiday home we look after, about ten miles away - the guests arrive on Thursday!
PenPin - wow, congratulations to DD; that's amazing!
I can't argue with anything that's been said on here already about the game. Five minutes into the second half I went and put the bins out, five minutes later DH turned the TV off so at least we didn't have to carry on watching.
Well, dinner tonight is yet more salad - far too hot for real cooking. I've got leftover new potatoes and ham, so an easy dinner.
Hope you all have a great day.

Good luck to all those taking exams today!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Tappers,
Every good wish for your DS. I well remember the strain of it, both for DS and me and DH (DS nearly dropped out of Uni 2 months before the end of his course because of his dissertation).
Penpin, well done to DD, I hope she has a fabulous time - will she get to go to Whipsnade if she is working large mammals? DS is 24 today and is off there with his GF for a day out.
I made him some birthday brownies yesterday and sent him off with them so I wouldn't be tempted - I'm another trying to lose weight - it's easier in the summer.0 -
Morning all:j
was up at the crack of dawn with Boo, she was a little angel yesterday and slept right through again:pWas going to take her swimming to the class today, but it's a 6 week course so will have to start it in 2 weeks:mad:Oh well never mind;)
Had a good weekend with OH, despite a few grumpy episodes Victor Meldrew style, which I just laugh at as it's sooo pathetic:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:hE HATED ME LAUGHING AT THE ABBA TRIBUTE BAND ON FRIDAY!!:eek::eek:

I have roasted a chicken, oven is staying off now ! done an online shop, weeded the garden, strimmed, watered it, )I find it needs doing morning and night now), and I have washed the car.
I still need to hoover, but have come in for brunch, might give the low carb thing a go. I also need to get stripping
Have retreated indoors now, too hot, might do and put my sun lounger up in a shady spot and read my book later on.
Candy, oh dear at the OH, silly man !!
Ok gonna get on xx0 -
Morning All
PP - what a fantastic placement for work experience for DD :j
Taplady - positive thoughts for DS being sent.
Phew its hot here again, have been & picked a driver up and catching up a little bit before I head out to pick up the kids as we all have a dentist appointment. Its an hour drive each way :eek:but he has been out dentist for years & don't want to change surgeries.
Not too much OS planned today, will pop into Asda which is next door to DD's school to pick up a few essentials which are needed. Not sure what is happening about dinner tonight - may grab something on the way home from the dentist.
House is a bit messy from having people round to watch the football yesterday (least said about the game the better) but won't be doing housework till at least wednesday as have got loads of paperwork to get though first. Glad to report that ironing pile is still under control :T
Off now to get some washing out, hope everyone keeps cool.x0 -
Penpin great news about your Dd and good on you for being chuffed and proud for her achievements .far too much emphasis is put on the hoodie wearing,asbo-proud kids in the media There are millions of hard-working youngsters in this country and thank goodness they far outweigh the bad apples. This month especially thousand of kids are sitting through their GCSE's ,A's ect and griiting their teeth and buckling down to it.True there are lots who can't be bothered but hopefully they are in the minority.I think there should be a more positive spin on life in general in this country as far too many folk are keen to run down the youth of today.Yesterday I picked up my DGS from a scout camp where he had been with his pals doing their DoE award camp.Ben and his pal Sam were shattered as they had in two days done a twenty mile hike in very warm conditions .These boys are 14 and they did it with full back packs .I dropped Ben off first and then took his pal home .Talking to him I asked him why he was doing it and his words were "Well the four of us all want to join the army after 6th form and we are all doing as much as we can to get extra things to go on our CV's"
When I was 14 I wouldn't have known what a CV was let alone thought about what I could do to put things on it to improve my chances in four years time .Kids today are a lot more wised up than we were back in the 1950s thats for sure.
I think we should try to give all kids an even break and for a change talk about how hard they do work and how sensible the greater majority are.So three rousing cheers for the budding zoologist working hard in the heat of central London today0 -

hey everyone, its very hot here, DS2 bit bothered and both boys appear to have gotten a little naughtier with the warmer weather! Up early with DS2 as he was so warm, should have left the fan on overnight in their room may have helped.
Took Ds2 the park after dropping DS1 at school, sun was already very hot and we didnt last long!
Downstairs all hoovered, dusted, curtained hoovered and just the bathroom to clean. oH has a frames stock chk after work so im hoping he b back in time to see the boys before bed.
PenPin - London Zoo what an amazing work placement!
Take care in the sun everyone xxMum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
Afternoon all,
We have had a shower of rain....everywhere dried up in a few minutes so not much help, will have to water garden to-night and feed tomatoes...
Been to knitting group this morning, great people, very sociable outing, was trying to find out how to up the income of a lady who has a UK pension, as she also has a pension from her late husband's employment she may not qualify, will put my thinking cap on...
Congrats to PP's DD on such good work placement, will indeed look well on her CV. Would like to agree with JackieO about young people, there are some wonderful youngsters everywhere, but they are ignored in the publicity for the not so wonderful, would put some of the bad behaviour down to the inadequate parenting one comes across.
Hope that exams go well for your DD today Ruby.
Taplady, hope that everything turns out well for DS
Took enough leftovers home from bbq yesterday to feed us to-day, so very little preparation needed for dinner to-night, will need to attack the porch though as a spider and his whole family have been very busy over the last couple of days.
Hoping to finish some of the knitting projects I have taken on recently....hate it when I do that but am refusing to let myself start anything else until the cushion covers, baby jackets, shopping bag, sweater for DS3 are finished!
Hugs to all in need or want,
