[*]Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Mon 28th June. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier![*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Morning.

Grey day today, still warm and possible rain later. Much needed I feel....
Well what a sorry performance from our multi million pound superstars. Not just yesterday but for every game. 3 goals in 4 games. Was Rooney in the team? I heard their exucses about they did their best. Blocks.:(

Well, I guess we can always remember 1966.

Work today, finished up with matey over the weekend and he is off to court this morning. Idiot running about with a gun and meat chopper, what did he think he was doing? He almost got shot! Now some bird perhaps....
Then I hope to get away and sort out funeral stuff and executor duties and stuff.. Then home for some roast chicken, bottle of wine and perhaps a few days off....:)

Have a good day...

    Morning chums,
what a rubbish performance by over paid prima donnas.Words fail me at the way these chaps behave .They earn unbelievable sums of money for doing very little, and all of the country was behind them.I think they all deserve sacking and a whole new team ,perhaps younger and broker, should replace the England team.I sat in my DDs garden yesterday afternoon and quite a lot of the family were there, we all willing them to do well and what happened we got well and truly trounced by a younger more hungry team.England footballers just didn't seem to be too fussed whether they won or not.Bring them home ,fire them, and make them go out to work to earn their money, like their supporters have had to over the past few years to save up to travel thousands of miles to see that was so sad.Right footie rant over.Life gets back to normality I hope
Today is going to be another scorcher 29c forecast in the south east, I have the aschool run this morning with my little grandsons then a quick trip to my garage to sort some minor work on the car .Only six weeks till our holiday so car must be in tip top condition. I picked DGS up from his DoE award camp and it seems he has passed all his bits he has to do for his bronze so him and his buddies are deciding today if they want to go on and do their silver which is the next level.
A bit of pottering around today indoors and I may make another carrot and orange cake as I have my friend June from Dartford coming tomorrow for lunch.I hope everyone has a good Monday
    Take care all

    Morning All

Well, I was up too early again! Probably something to do with the hectic weekend and going to bed at 9.30 last night! Fed the hens and fish, made the packed lunches and put the washing on the racks, not sure if the weather will hold and it's not urgent so no hurry but I hate it getting wet on the line.

JackieO you are quite right about the England team, they seem to feel they have a right to play for their country - perhaps some less well paid players who really want to represent their country should be chosen, along with a Manager who is also English (or at least speaks the language!). Anyway, I'm sure we will hear all the excuses over the next couple of days. I am off to Dusseldorf on Friday for a few days so the atmosphere there should be good.

No cycling for me today, DS2 has left the car while he is on his hols and DD is delighted as she can have a bit of a lie in as she doesn't have to give me and the bike a lift to work.

Hope you are all well and have a good day.

Morning all - up early today - got self sorted and dogs, then made packed lunches. Just waiting until 7am before I turf the boys out of bed. Have managed to give away some bits and pieces on Freecycle - which is great - rather they benefitted someone else than went to the skip. Looks lovely again today - so will do loads of washing, doctors later and then will whizz round the house cleaning and tidying up. Driving up north tonight so hope the roads are clear as I would like to get there before midnight! So tea will be sarnies etc. Right will just finish my coffee and get those duvets pulled back!!

Love and hugs to all in need.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Morning everyone, beautiful sunny day already :D

DH has left for work, and I can hear DD moving upstairs, just about to jump in the shower and get ready for work - have already made packed lunches. Need to sew up DD's friends jeans quickly so she can take them to school.

Dinner tonight will be HM lasagne, salad and garlic bread.

Need to clean the windows, as the sun is really showing them up :o

Hope everyone has a great day

    Morning all,

Another beautiful day here :T, it got up to 31 yesterday. DD and I laid in the garden during the footie, heard the shouts of the neighbours though, so knew we had not won.

DD has Biology and Physics exams today, she has been studing all weekend so will hopefully be ok.

I am just about to light the oven and roast a chicken before it gets too hot, yesterday I made a pasta salad, potato salad and rice salad, there is enough for today, so just the chicken to do.

Going to get out in the garden this morning before it gets too hot, I need to do a bit of weeding and strim, then I will hoover through downstairs, do an online shop and then strip some more walls in the spare room.

Ok better get on, have good days all xx

    Morning

Beautiful blue skies here this morning and its hot sat here with the sun coming in the kitchen window.

Just had a blueberry muffin for breakfast that I made yesterday and washing it down with a coffee. DD is still in bed as she waited up for DH who didn't come in until 9 last night - poor man was in agony being on his feet for 11 hours! Going to have to sort out something more comfortable for him to wear. Anyway he said last night that he was tired, sore and still loved the job! His boss has told him he will make a good supervisor when his licence comes threw so he was well chuffed.

Lunch for me today is couscous mixed with some leftover fajita filling from last night, dinner is cottage pie and the base is made in the fridge and the potatoes are peeled to be cooked later.

Foot is still giving me jip but i have to go to work - should be ok once i get there. And as for the football?? Disgraceful.

Hope you enjoy your day whatever you're doing :D

Sunny and very warm again here this morning, although showers forecast for tomorrow. Not going to dwell on the football - we were completely outplayed by a better team.

OH worked Sat morning, so did lots of baking before it got too hot, made 2 doz twinks, choc chip cookies, made caramel fingers (millionaires shortbread) and a fruit tea loaf that we took to grandad yesterday as it was his birthday - he's bearing up quite well, but we think it may become reality for him this week, as funeral and ashes have now been dealt with and all the family have now gone home- we'll be keeping an eye on him though.

Made paella in the big pan on the bbq Sat night then had 2 lots of friends over so finished up with 12 sat in our garden until 10.30-10.45pm - not often it's warm enough in this country to sit out until that time!

We took caravan for a service and have a poorly caravan - so have had to cancel the rally we were going on this weekend and hoping we have caravan back for our holiday at the end of July - it's going to be expensive too - just what we wanted before our hols - not!! Hey ho I'm sure it could be worse.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Hi Guys!

Thanks for all the lovely messages yesterday.

    *PROUD MUM ALERT*

I just wanted to share some good news with you...my DD (nearly 16-where has the time gone?) went off to start her Work Experiance this morning at 5.50am. We are so proud of her and she has come a long way. Thanks for all the support over the past 5 years since before DD took her 11+. I just wanted to make you all a part of this. She applied for this WE towards the end of last year and some thought I was being pushy etc etc but I argued my case and DD was just very committed!....anyway...there were just 15 places over all the London Boroughs and over 2,000 teenagers applied, she got through to interview and was offered a place there and then:j:j:j......guess where she is doing her bloomin work experiance......................****** ZOO!! There are going to be TV crews there to follow them around:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:.....she is with the large mammals, so lets hope she doesnt get eaten:D

If nothing else, it will look good on her CV for Uni and doing Zoology degree.

Anyway, my helper will be here any minute and the GP has asked to come out and see me about some results...sounds ominus!

    WM is on.

    Hope all is well.
