Citroen Xsara radio coding

Just bought the wife an 02 plate Xsara HDi, and it has a radio cassette in, and I intend to change it for an oem cd player.
Neighbour, who has a similar car, says it won't need coding, but I think otherwise.
Any ideas?
Have alook HERE, srcoll the models and see if yours is listed, best I can do i'm afraid0 -
Very informative link that SS. Many thanks for that.
Taking into consideration the cost of re-coding, it may be just as well getting an aftermarket version like a JVC, Sony etc.
I had a similar dilemma with my 406, and settled on an aftermarket version instead of purcahsing an original unit and then having it re-coded, and it works a treat.
Sure you lose some of the inbuilt display, usually the radio related stuff, but I can live with that. That's my mutt in the picture above.0
