When you say your daughter and husband can still get on line, do they use the router as you do?

If so, this suggests to me the issue is either:
(i) a firewall on your laptop - briefly turn this on, look at a safe page to see if it loads (try www.google.co.uk), then turn the firewall back on

(ii) you always connect to work by VPN, and it won't let you look any further because your router IP address has changed, in which case try not connecting via the VPN (if in Vista, see Control Panel>Network and Sharing Center>Connect to a Network and disconnect from the VPN)

Please explain more about the vpn? Is this spurious, or have you changed any vpn settings on the router (if you have, it's unlikely the other pc's will work).

What is your proxy server set to in IE, tools, internet options, connections.
