While you're waiting to find a job that will be flexible enough to fit in your weekly appointment why not use your jewellery skills and start making and selling a few things on ebay? Jewellery repair might also be another area to get into. If you're doing something creative it will give you something else to focus on. Local car boots might be a good source of broken items and spare bits you could incorporate into your own creations to save on initial costs.

Not all companies want full time staff so it is worth asking around in your local area if there are any that only need someone 4 days a week for example.

Why did you ask for advice if you're already doing everything anyone could possibly suggest?

I do think it does have to have an end point, yes- but in the meantime I still need a job. And thats the main problem. I left my old job of my own accord, to take up some self employment that didn't last. So I'm stuck- at the moment. I don't know if you've ever been in therapy but it won't be a fast cutoff period, 6 weeks maybe, perhaps a bit longer.

Maybe I will have to stop therapy to get a job, who knows. Perhaps everyone who needs treatment should just jack it in to fit into office hours. That would be sensible. I volunteer you to explain it to all the people in the UK in distress requiring regular treatment that they have to stop it unless it can be outside office hours. Good luck with that.

mind you perhaps when I've out of work for longer than 3 weeks thats precisely what I'll be forced to do.

I'm sure you could find a therapist who works outside of office hours? I used to see a therapist at 6pm every Thursday and as I finished work at 5pm it didn't disrupt my work.

I don't pay for my therapy, I waited 5 years for nhs therapy. But thanks for thinking I can afford it.

I did nhs therapy too and they still did it "out of hours". It was at dr's surgery which closed at 7pm so I had the last appointment.

Thanks but my therapy is not of that type and trust me, the appointment really can't be moved. Really, really, not. I really have asked.

I'm not! I wanted some new ideas. I've had tons of advice that i have looked at and actioned. Just so happens I'm already doing the jewellery and the nhs job hunt. Incidentally ebay is not so good for selling jewellery, sadly- I am still experimenting with what type/price/how many/ etc to see if I can make it work.

I think your expectations are unrealistic. You are not available for full time work, yet you applied for a full time position. You have the choice of either changing therapists to find one who can fit yopur sessions around a full time job, or only applying for positions that want a part time worker.

I will say that you seem to have bought into the long term therapy as being an integral part of your life, and if that is what you think you need then you will need to make the changes in mindset and weigh up the practicalities, not an employer. Why would they unless you invoke the DDA. Which may be the route to take if you fall into the area covered by it.

It just seems like your answer to every suggestion is either 'I'm already doing that, duh" "Why should I have to do that?" or "That idea won't work".

Apparently you don't mean to come across that way, and I do believe that, but its hard to help you! I'm scared to try!

Its OK I think I am very moody today. I do hate being out of work.

ooh yes I know but... what job would that be- I mean- maybe warehouse? I'm kind of looking for something a bit higher up than that.
I don't feel disabled- I do tick the disability box though because depression as severe as when it was first diagnosed (ten years back) is classed as a disability. Its mainly controlled- I am mainly quite normal apart from needing loads of sleep.

Perhaps I am not normal. God how awful. Perhaps I am really one of those people who can't have a (decent) job. Shame I can't work in catering really- (milk/nuts allergy) fork lift licence might be the way to go.

Have you ever considered that an employer has needs too , is it so unreasonable for them to employ someone thats suitable for them? Who would cover your job while you were at your appointments , and how would you make up the hours , if I presume they have no need of a receptionist outside they hours they requested ?

Why did you leave your last employment?

I dont think its unreasonable for employers to want people for certain hours- you will note if you read the original post that I was asking for work I could do, though I have further commented that two employers have not had the tiniest problem covering for me and allowing me to make up my hours, they are, as I have again commented, obviously very unusual employers.
I left my last job because the contract ended.

I would have made up the hours- its not hard to make up two hours in a day that runs from 8 am to 6.30 pm and has two shifts.

I know from this thread now thats its completely impossible to even begin to suggest to 9 to 5 office employers that they even consider to employ me so thanks for that it was not quite so obvious before. I genuinely thought that employers might consider flexible hours. Ah well, I was wrong.
