Yes, I noted it, but she has found a DELL recovery disc. She might be able to use that to run a Repair Install. Otherwise she can create the disc on a borrowed machine. It's about time they got to know their neighbours. :)

Hello again, I tried to reinstall using the disc and it seemed to work, but now I have no programmes on and a recovery drive that is full. I am hoping it is full because it has saved all the stuff on the previous version BUT I have a friend coming over who is going to sort it out for me, he can build and repair systems so I think it is safest to let him sort it out properly.

I am so gratefull for all your help. I have been able to get help from here before and it is always my first point of call when I get stuck.

I just think it is fantastic to be able to click away and get answers from knowledgeable people. Trouble is, I know my limitations now and this is one of them, so I am on my little netbook now until the nice man comes and makes it all better.

:T:beer::T:beer::T:beer::T (see, I can do smileys though!) thanks again everyone, I have clicked all your thanks buttons.
:hello:  please play nicely children !

Erm... a re-install is not the same as a Repair Install.
Let's hope your friend can make sense of what you have done. It would have been better if you had created the Recovery Disc and worked with that.
Anyway, let's hope you haven't erased any important information.
