Hi all,
I was just wondering what my next sensible move up the credit ladder should be?
I have a jacamo account (400 limit at my request) which I never use so should close
I have Vanquis rip off card 59.9%apr -2250 limit. Has done its job though so shouldnt complain
Cap one classic - 2000 limit
Recently managed to get an Aqua card 200 limit.
I have got a car loan with Marsh finance at 20% apr.
I am wondering what my next credit card should be on the road to real APR's.
I have one CCJ left due to drop off end of Nov so no further action till then.
I have a 4 yr old default from unwelcome finance too.
I am a tenant so would I be likely to get accepted by the Sygma cards? Not risking it till my CCJ drops off though.
Cant wait to be prime again!!
Thanks folks________________________________________

If you have Vanquis, Cap1 and Aqua then your next step is probably Sygma, but unsure about them and the CCJ.
Have you got a current account with a CCJ? If you have, then trying your own bank may get you one with them based on your internal score0 -

I have 3 satisfied defaults with the unwelcome crew...... 3 years old or 4. Did you get vanquish before the defaults? I have tried them twice and they have declined me I think it's because they are linked to unwelcome?3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

I just tried creation, the only negative on my report is a 5 yr old default. I have Granite £1000, Cap 1 Classic £800, Aqua £700, B/card Initial £250. Amobile contract and a couple of catalogue accounts. All cards are paid in full at the end of each month. My debt is 1% of my available credit on Experian. All accounts apart from mobile account have over 12 months worth of green ticks, mobile has 9 months of green ticks.
Creation said thanks but no thanks.............
Sigh...........................................................................................
I believe I have proved myself responsible with credit now and am grateful to all the sub prime cards but it still seems that anything from the prime market doesn't want to know, it is a bit disheartening at times.........0 -
I would say your negative is having four other credit cards, why do you need another one if these ones are not maxed out and paid in full each month like you say they are?
EDIT: Sorry, I didnt read the last paragraph.0 -
give it another six months make sure you don't make any other credit applications in this time or have any increases in your limits on your excisting cards.
i'm at the same stage as you simon i'm still sub prime but getting to the stage where hopefully i will get a prime card offers in 6 months time I do already have one with natwest but i had to fight to get that and i bank with them !
btw creation search equifax not experian0 -
@older_wiser
I bank with Natwest and applied for their card but got rejected. When you say you had to fight for one, how do you mean? I got accepted for Nationwide and Tesco credit cards but rejected for Natwest.0 -
just over a year ago i didn't have any credit history so i've had to start from scratch. I bank with natwest and i have quite a good income but even with this i was rejected by natwest credit card. I appealed and sent in my natwest current account statements for 3 months which proved i keep a high balance and a good income coming into the account each month. i also have savings with the natwest after several weeks i got my natwest credit card with a good limit. Since then i have only applied for sub prime cards and been accepted each time with rising limits with each application. I feel my sub prime days may be coming to an end but won't test that for another 6 months or more.0

Evening people,
I have had:
Cap1 for 1 year and 4 months. (All green ticks)
Granite for 9 months. (All green ticks)
Mobile phone contract for 3 years and 3 months. (3 Late payments in 2010, besides that all green ticks)
3 Bank accounts showing all green ticks,
1 loan with unwelcome, showing 6 late payments but now all paid off, up to date and closed.
No CCJs, 4 satisfied dafaults in 2008.
What would my next step be? What shall i apply for next?
Any info appreciated.
Also have an unused JD Williams account, havent placed an order as i find their prices over the roof.0 -

Go for something issued by Creation, the Flybe mastercard seems to be a good one to go for, many others have had success. The defaults and late payments may be an issue, but one search isn't going to do any harm.0
