  • i freeze breastmilk [not to use in my cuppa lol altho that really would be extreme moneysaving :rotfl:] and altho it seperates as it settles and freezes it goes back to normal [whatever that is] with a little shake... would imagine normal milk would be the same......

btw in case anyone is interested i express my milk to donate to the local milk bank so it can be used for the special care babies - they are always looking for donars so if you know anyone who is breastfeeding a small baby could you suggest it:?: as the health professionals never seem to think to mention it......
:rotfl:five children? I must be mad........ :rotfl:

I wouldnt buy powdered milk it's sh*te. the teeny tiny bit of milk i have in tea has to be proper milk, I tried soya and thats awful in tea too.
Powdered milk is great in baking though, and when making yogurt ;)
  • I freeze milk all the time.

TBH I could not be arsed to mess around with cubing it though just to save a few pence!

Could you not buy a 2 pint carton and put half in fridge in jug and freeze the other half. Should last quite a while.

Powdered milk is pretty cheap here and not too bad. I don't like it by itself but what I do is buy skim powdered milk & buy full cream milk. I halve the milk between two containers and mix the powdered milk and top up making my own low fat milk. It tastes nice & is a lot cheaper. I then freeze it.
So 2 litres of milk I can make 4 litres.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

I've done this too, got the idea from the Tightwad Gazette. In the US I think dried milk is considerably cheaper than fresh, whereas in the UK it is a bit cheaper (works out a 19p a pint).

Milk can definitely be frozen although I never do as we drink quite a lot of milk especially my OH, I always say we should keep a cow in the back garden.
We buy 2 3L cartons of milk when we go shopping and this lasts us about a week. I would never used powdered milk, it tastes disgusting
