Should I regret already booking with BA?

Hi all,
My sister and I have booked a flight with BA to Las Vegas on 7. August, while our return flight is scheduled from Los Angeles on the 30. August. It seems that the cabin once again has nothing better to do than disturbing the travel plans of millions of customers. If rumours are true, there are plans to walk out form 3. August. I am flying from London, so I assume my flight should definitely go ahead as they try to keed the long-haul flights going. The worrying thing is that my sister starts her journey from Zuerich to London first with BA, before we are flying from there together to the US. What will happen if the Zuerich-London flight is cancele, might she be booked on an easyjetflight for example so that she can still make it in time to be in London for the oversea flight? I am just wondering how big the chance might be that we wont fly together from London to Las Vegas.
Thanks for your feedback

Should there be any further distruption (unlikely) the rumours are that 100% of long haul will be running - the short haul segment is the problem, so you may wish to book a low-cost-carrier ticket in reserve, or consider a fully-flex (hence 100% refundable) with another carrier (SWISS are excellent on that route).Legal team on standby0

was her Zurich -> London flight part of the same ticket as London -> Vegas? I'm not sure how they would treat the London -> Vegas leg if she didn't board the Zurich -> London flight (if it was cancelled due to a strike)...so if she's going to go ahead and book a separate ticket to get her to London if it goes wrong with BA, she may want to check with BA as to whether their system could handle this and keep onward ticket active since normally if you don't board the first flight they cancel the remainder of the journey. I would hope in a situation like this they would have a work-around for it since it's down to their issue causing the problem.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

Flying from London does not exempt you from strike action, I flew long haul with them and was very lucky with my dates but I know many others who were not so lucky! At that time, it seemed as though flights from Gatwick were mainly unaffected but the Heathrow flights had real problems. Where are you flying from?

I didn't catch the whole article, but I'm sure I heard on the radio that BA are putting a revised offer to the Heathrow crews. Got my fingers crossed that there aren't any more strikes. From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0

That is correct, it is one ticket for the trip with BA from Zuerich to Vegas via London. Would be great if someone had to deal with a similar case and would advise me what to do if strike action is really planned to go ahead.
Thanks0 -

I thought they were more or less running all of the long-haul flights from Heathrow. Lets hope the best that there are no strikes planned for the summer.0 -
The rumour is that should there be any further action then 100% of long haul will run. I'd hope BA would be flexible enough to honour a through-ticket if they cancel the short haul feeder flight, but you are still able to make the long haul by another carrier.
I wouldn't use stats from previous strikes to work out future strike flights as BA now have more volunteer staff and will be able to run more planes. I think further strike action is unlikely given the lack of success of the prevous strikes, and the current offer on the table from BA.Legal team on standby0 -
We also booked with BA from Heathrow-Atlanta at the start of September so waiting with baited breath for news of any more strikes.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0

As quoted many times BA will be running 100% of the longhaul flights, stop worringWe also booked with BA from Heathrow-Atlanta at the start of September so waiting with baited breath for news of any more strikes. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
They have said they will hire extra staff if another strike goes ahead.
As it is the new offer will be voted on by crew next Tuesday, iirc.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
