When was the last time the mobility allowance was reviewed? If it isn't that recent, have they thought about reapplying to see if they now qualify for the higher rate? If she needs round the clock care, maybe it is worth reviewing.

You took the words right out of my mouth DizzleUK ;). I was just about to edit my last post with that exact same question. I think you are right, if 24 hour care is required they are definitely not on the correct level of Mobility. I would suggest speaking to her Doctor to see if he can write to the Mobility people asking if a review of her condition could be done if he considers that it has changed drastically since the last medical was done.

Also another matter that may help (or may not) my Dad is also on the lower Mobility together with Income Support and Pension Credit. He was able to apply for a Budgeting Loan off the DSS for one of those Mobility Scooters, as he had a Triple Heart bypass approx. 2 years ago. He received about £400 for it, but this was actually all that he asked for, so that he could buy a second hand one. Maybe this could be an option. I know a Mobility scooter is not going to get you everywhere but it is an option to help her to get around the local area at least (depending on the model bought - some may get you a bit further). ;)
