Maybe i've read this wrong but why is your non driving, non working sister who's on benefits trying to get the finance, instead of the full time working partner who will actually be driving the car as well.

Also remember that if the finance is in her name and she splits up with her partner then she'll still be paying the finance as well as shelling out £80 month on taxi's etc as she cant drive the car.

the partner is non working also on carers allowance,

there is no chance of getting finance or a loan unless its a doorstep collector ir provi. as benefits its not guaranteed income and can change anytime, while u can budget for insurance and road tax you can never budget for the unexpected running a car is never that easy.

Have you checked that both your sister and her partner are receiving all of the benefits they are entitled to? www.entitledto.co.uk From what you've posted, I can't be sure that her partner is claiming carers allowance. It may be something they didn't realise they were entitled to?

Also, are there any travel schemes in your local area to get your sister to and from medical appointments? You should check your local council website for information, or call them. Or have they tried and it wasn't reliable enough?

he cant work full time he is a carer and she needs someone there 24/7 and he does get carers allowance. theyv also been together 6 yrs so she would be willing to take the risk with him
i can understand finance may not be available to those people who are on benefits but there is a mobility scheme for those on higher mobility dla so thought it was worth checking finance options to cater for those who dont qualify but still recieve similar benefits
i will definately look into those travel schemes that would give her the chance to save
and thanks for the commonwheels site that seems like a great option

    OP.
Why on earth would you think a lender would give money to someone that doesn't earn anything?

    1. The lender would have to be a certified fool
    2. The borrower would be back here within weeks asking how they can get out of payiong it back.

i dont think anything i was just looking at the options and now have lots more info than i did yesturday so im really glad i done this post

i can understand why lenders may not class benefits as earnings but my sister have been confirmed to run for the next 3years before a review so it is a reliable income at least for that period which cannot be said fof most jobs so its a shame that its so black and white

like iv said im under no illusions that finance may be an option but i thought id ask all you who know a lot about credit etc and get some honest advice and i have really appreciated everyones help

When was the last time the mobility allowance was reviewed? If it isn't that recent, have they thought about reapplying to see if they now qualify for the higher rate? If she needs round the clock care, maybe it is worth reviewing.
Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.

Just thought I would let you know that actually they should be able to get onto the Electoral Register earlier. I know when I moved into this property a few years ago I had just missed the deadline for the Electoral Register form by a couple of weeks. I went down to the local council though and asked if I could apply to get onto the register, earlier than the following year, and they said all I had to do was give them my details and I would be on it in 1 months time. I then received a letter a month later to confirm this had been done. Sorry can't help with the finance part of the query but this may help a little bit. Don't forget, to get finance all companies do a check on the Electoral Register to ensure you live where you say you do. So if they are able to find anybody that does do loans for applicants on benefits, they need to ensure they apply to go on the Register at least 1 month before they consider applying for the loan.
