mortgage company want bank statements

Online paperless statements will bring about the next financial disaster, that's what I say. I have been actively refusing to go paperless for years.
Every time you apply for mobile phone, resident's permit etc. they demand ORIGINAL utility and bank statements: and then they LOSE THEM. My local council said they sent the V5C (car registration) back weeks ago, and I said no you haven't. And then they found it!
I also have missing bank statements because some companies never sent them back.
It's not too bad with mortgage applications, because you can print recent online ones, but they only keep a year or two online. If the Inland Revenue ever audits me, and I'm missing one from three years ago, what am I going to do?
Soon we are going to have a new under class: people with a lack of paper trail. If you lost your no claims bonus paperwork, you pay full wack. No bank statement, so we won't lend you any money.
The final madness will come when a bank demands ORIGINAL statements when you apply for an account, and then refusing to send you paper statements to save money.
One of these days, statements will be so valuable, that they can only be sent using DHL, and have to be signed for.0 -
Skeleton stay in the closet, deformed children are locked in the attic, mad fathers sent to the asylum, and pregnant daughters hide in Brighton. All traditions with a long history.
