Sky Bills and TV connection Question.

My mum has just moved and got a sky TV and Phone package, shes been sent a password etc, so ive looked online, on her behalf, and it seems she has 'chosen by default' to have online bills. Every time I look at it, its changed..different amounts, different dates for DDs, credits/refunds...it makes no sense!
Could she have paper bills sent, so ahe could keep track herself, and if so does Sky charge extra for paper bills? (I know Virgin do)
Secondly, they fitted her dish and sky+ box before the phone line was connected, Im sure there is something about having the Sky box connected to the phone line for a year..now the phone line is active will sky call to arrange an engineer to come and do this, or will my mum have to arrange this herself?
Hope someone can help, cant find any info on the site, and due to the nightmare we had with setting the package up, I have no confidence about calling and asking !!

Ive found Sky to be helpful on the phone - but you might have to wait to get through.
I've got broadband, Sky digital, and my phone line with them - and there have been no problems! Plus I get a paper bill, (its only every couple of months though) and I dont pay any extra for this.
If I was your mum, I would phone sky to make arrangements for the engineer to come and set everything up! I wouldnt wait for any provider to be honest, afterall, she could be waiting forever.
One negative is : they're expensive. Im sure there must be cheaper options out there. My mum was paying £13.99 to AOL. My brother was paying £6.99 for the same package. My brother phoned to ask to put my mum on the same rate - "No problem Sir - consider it done".
Might we worth your checking this out - because Sky give you so many days to change your mind about being committed to a years product or service. Also, when you receive a call to ask if you want to insure your services / digibox / dish or whatever - say no! Its not even Sky calling, its a sub-contractor. If anything goes wrong with your dish or box, just phone Sky and tell them to come and collect it - You can bet your bottom dollar they'll fix / replace FOC.

Thanks peggy40, my OH decided to fix up the box to the phone line today anyway, I will tell her to ask about paper bills.
Perhaps CS will be better, thinking about it, when I called and had lots of problems it was the 'sales' teams, not actually CS.
Package wise she is quite happy really, only a bit more than her old virgin package cost, but more programmes (including kids channels for the grandkids) free broadband (again for the grandkids) and free phone calls (well £5 a month for unlimited talk).
Was her birthday today (74) and she now has a lovely 42" flat screen TV so she can see her programme guide without squinting too! :T0 -
I thought my eyes were bad when i had a rubbish old telly now i have a 60" LG tv and found my eyes work perfectly xD0

:rotfl::rotfl:Yes, she had a tiny 20" TV, now moved from atiny flat to a bungalow and the livingroom is bigger too, so she is further away from it. We lent her our 32" to see if that was any better to see the writing, in the mean time we saw a 42" in argos for £399 and decided to splash out on a welcome home/moving home/birthday treat!0 -
just ring customer service on 08442 414141 amd they will arrange for paper bills to be sent instead of online bills. that's what i did. infact if you have your mums online login id etc you can change it online.Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.
wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!0 -

Never thought of that! Ive been on the site and changed her preference, found it straight away! Not sure if that means thats as well as viewing online, or instead, but it will suit my mum, she likes to have paper records! Thanks Boltonangel!0 -

Aww glad to see your Mum managed to move, I saw your original thread about it so I wondered how it was going. x"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke

Tigzem, you have a good memory!! Thank you!
I did wonder if I should update the thread and say she had moved, as I alway find it useful when other MSRes do updates on their threads!
Yes she moved to a housing association bungalow, very lucky really as there had last been a vacancy 6 years ago!!
She was in hopsital for a month, which set her back. (but gave us chance to get it decorated, carpeted and moved in her things without her having to deal with it all!) She is getting used to having a back door and living downstairs (lived in a flat for over 30 years!)
Its lovely living just 5 minutes away, I see her lots more, and she sees the grandkids more often too. My husband lost both his parents within a year not so long ago, so we are appreciating this time as much as we can. (Hope that doesnt sound morbid).
We had our first shopping trip to town today, and soon she is hoping to get out more independently (the physios see her at home and help with outdoor mobility which is brill!)0 -
How fabulous for your Mum and for your family.
I bet it's lovely for her to be living on the ground and having a garden. Very happy for her.
Thanks for the update xx"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke
