wanting to cancel virgin & go for freesat

Hi everyone
I'd like to cancel virgin as i'm fed up of paying loads & hardly watching anything, plus most of the time i watch catch up.
Now i had a sky dish fitted (from freecycle) so can i just connect a freesat HD box to this?
I also have the offer of a freeview recorder from my parents as they have two.
Can this be linked to the freesat HD?
I guess it wont record in HD but the price of a freesat+ HD is quite a lot.
I've got a budget of about £150

Freeview and Freesat are different.
You will have Freesat through the satellite dish and Freeview will come through a normal TV aerial to your Freeview recorder.
Both can be connected to your TV but you will only be able to record programmes from Freeview.
In practice most channels you watch on a regular basis will be on both Freeview and Freesat.0 -

I am afraid not, it won't be able to decode the signal.0

Dish will stay just swap the LNB, dont bother with a twin just put a quad up for future use.0

There is no harm in the "hit & miss" approach to lining up the LNB, but a Sat Finder makes it a lot easier.blushingbride wrote: »Ok are these simple to fit? i.e could I do it myself?
If you like paying more than retail (for sometimes secondhand) goods on a very high percentage of occasions, then fleabay is fine.blushingbride wrote: »Is eBay the best place to buy?Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
You will not need to line up the LNB, just swap them, easy as long as the dish is not tooo old otherwise you will need an adapter.
Here is a good explanation of types.
