Is the housing market really picking up?

More selling and on the market up here - but for reduced prices and LOTS that 'sell' and then come back on a few weeks later - presue that's cos people can't get finance?0

Round my way Jan was very slow. market picked up well in Feb & March. Died again in April, picked up in May and died again June.
There were about 175 properties available in my search criteria in May there are now 220 and rising. Little is selling and a fair few that sell seem to fall through. Cant see things picking up over the summer holidays and by Sept people will be worrying about the Spending review in Oct etc.
At the same time if you price your property at the right price and the property stands out from the crowd it will sell. We went under offer at the beginning of June in 1 week and only 2% less than asking price.0 -

Heated debate between 2 bulls and 2 bears on Radio 5. Something for all.

That was a broadcast on behalf of the 70% club.0 -
Listened to this broadcast from May. What an awful aggressive man that Jonny Davies is... he really can't see the wood for the trees.
I understand that he STR'd in 2005. I think I'd be pretty angry at the world too, if I'd lost out on the price rises since then too.0 -

It is a bad preformance by him in terms of aggression but he knows his stuff. The estate agent hasn't been able to win the argument on each ocasion so now tries instead to provoke.
Mickey Clark comes accross very well. It seems the people with the finacial knowledge are the bears and the vested interest property groups are the bulls.
I think substance will win over meaningless soundbites of the VIs.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

To be fair Brit - you (and Mickey Clark and Jonny Davies) all thought that house prices would fall coming up to Christmas 2009.
I think the reality of the end of the crash won out over the meaningless soundbites of the bears, most of whom are just VI's who, like Jonny Davies and that horsey woman from MoneyWeek, STR'd and then waited too long to get back into a market where London house prices are now back at their peak

All that has happened was it was delayed a couple years by slashing interest rates to 0.5%. Who really thought that could happen, I didn't.
The system is very sick.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.
