I was taking 4 Zirtek (well, the cheap version of Zirtek) a day and was still feeling like poo: runny nose, weeping eyes, itchy throat and ears, sneezing sessions about every hour (a dozen sneezes in a row, that really makes your head spin!).

I started using the 'rudolph' machine on Tuesday and am now down to 1 Zirtek a day. Sneezing and runny nose stopped almost straight away. I'm left with a very itchy nose, but it's a massive improvement. My eyes are not as weepy as they were but the itchy ears are still driving me crazeeeeee! I may even venture outside soon......... :)

:TThanks for posting this OP xx

See they are still doing the deal, will give it a go.

For those of you that have it, can an eleven year old use it as well?

I stick with my tablets thanks - don't believe this works at all, a lot of studies have suggested it's a placebo effect.

Regardless, l also don't understand why people buy loratadine tablets, they've proven to be the most useless out of the 3: loratadine/cetirizine/acrivastine

The best for the whole day is: Cetrizine (long-lasting)
The best for immediate relief is: Acrivastine (short-lasting)

    anyway whatever.

See, the thing is, if I feel better, I don't really care if it's a placebo effect or not. Regarding the tablets everyone is different what works for you doesn't necessarily work for anyone else.

Thanks OP the offer has been extended so I've ordered mine :T

I used to have an injection for my hayfever called Kenalog, had the jab in the april and didnt suffer any hayfever symptoms at all for whole year, howver my doc has stopped prescribing them now and I suffered immensely last year and this year until he persuaded me to try a nasal spray called Avamys, on prescription. Its bliddy marvellous!! I have sunbathed for two days without so much as a sniffle, and my eyes havent suffered either.
If you cant persuade your doc to give you kenalog get Avamys!

I got one for my 15 year old son, he has used it 4 times a day for past 3 days and reports..... NO Difference!!

made me laugh though when using it in the dark all I could see was his red nose!

I have found that Flixonase which is a nasal spray (not available over the counter and not the same as beconase) works really well along with ceterizine tablets.
Flixonase is available over the counter, although, it's not cheap. Also, I find that I have to use it every day for it to be effective (which it is). It doesn't seem to work as a 'one-off' when I'm feeling really sniffly. Anyone else find this?

To those that have bought the Rudolph machine:

    Why does it bleep?

It's not as if you are going to forget to remove the prongs from your hooter when the session is over!

  • i bought this last year, and have found it has helped.
i have allergic rhinitis and i can't smell or taste anything unless i use betnamethasone drops and this twice a day.
when i used this for the first week, it was a shock to my nose and i could smell and taste everything, however my nose got used to it and now i have to use steriods along side it. but still worth every penny.if in doubt get it, i was very very sceptical, but i was desperate so i took the plunge for just a tenner

my daughter suffers badly from hayfever so i had told her bout this she went in her local lloyds to get one but was told she couldnt use it as she has the contaceptive implants in her arm and the infa reds could affect it .Ive told her to make sure no remote controls are near her when shes doing jiggy jiggy incase she leans on it and the infa red rays hit her implant lol:eek:
