Received: a brand new Galt swing slide and tower set that someone had won in a competition and they didn't have a garden(!); steam cleaner, football boots for DS, loads of upholstery material offcuts and squares
Given: bookshelf, bikes, Kenwood chef, piano scores, lego pieces, bay leaves from my pruning session, jungle curtains

A piano---had to pay to have it delivered but was well worth it. A TV arial, some fabric, some magazines, a leather chair & footstool for my teenage Son's bedroom...usually I'm too late for the best stuff, you have to be online at the right time to be in with a chance.

I find Freecycle most useful though for getting rid of stuff that I would otherwise have taken to the dump, saves me a trip and less for landfill so it's all good. Only this week I disposed of two computer desks and an old pc monitor which the bloke was delighted with. Sadly no-one wants the two computer chairs I posted (they're a bit tatty) so I've got to go to the dump for the first time in months. If I have lots of replies to items offered I favour the polite emails rather than first in line! Some people can be quite rude. But they're in the minority. Go for it!

A bookcase, motorcyle panniers and a land-line phone - all really really useful.

I must admit I haven't used it for ages since I posted a bunch of stuff that I later found out the group administrator came to collect before he put the ad out on the public forum. I had wondered (as a relative novice at the time) why someone had managed to reply before I saw the post up on the group and why there had only been that one response! :) It wouldn't have been so bad, but I ran into him as I was bringing some stuff down to the local swap shop a week later and he asked if I had any more things like it (it was craft supplies I'd bought in from abroad)!

It is a lovely idea though :)

I got a large wheelie bin which enables me to buy my rabbits a bale of hay every 2-3 months at a cost of £5 rather than a bag of hay weekly costing £2.75, saving loads! The wheelie bin stores one bale perfectly

    My breadmaker! :D

You lucky thing!! I put up a wanted post for a breadmaker yesterday but no joy so far.

The best thing I have received was a tall freezer which is much more convenient and bigger than the chest freezer I had before. I then went on to offer my chest freezer on there, which someone was very grateful to receive.

I've given away a really good condition high chair on there recently and the woman swapped it for a vegetable steamer she didn't need anymore!
My Mum now has the veggie steamer and is thrilled with it.

I also offered a washing machine when I was expecting delivery of my new washer/dryer. If the company bringing my new one had taken the old one away they would've charged me. Instead it was taken away for nothing and was going to a new home by someone who needed it.

    I LOVE Freecycle!:T
