I have just recently looked at freecycle, ive never had the guts to use it yet but having a look around and there seems to be seems some very generous people out there.
I was just interested to know how many of u use free cycle and whats the best/most useful find on there?
Would be interesting to find out.

I recently got a solid oak sideboard in great condition - got to be about 8ft long. Totally free. Although because my husband was in work it did cost me money to get removal men to pick it up for me. But it is gorgeous - and would have cost well over £300 I think new. Total bargain!
On the other hand, I've given away childrens toys, chairs, and old working TV, jam jars and am about to give away two table & chair sets, two single beds and a small chest freezer. Find it greatly depends on where you live as to the quality of things offered. My parents joined but never use it as it is mostly baby items - they're in their 60s!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
My DD wanted those sliding mirrored wardrobe doors but I couldn"t afford them. A very kind lady put 3 on Freecycle very late one night and I was the 1st to respond she gave them to me. They were just what my DD was looking and together with some scrap worktop which was used to make shelves, a donated shoe rack and adjusting some of her present furniture she ended up with a storage system that would have cost me #400 or more but really cost me less than 50. I would recommend it but on our local group a few people have had people reply to say they want the stuff but then never turn up. Observe the etiquette and you can't go wrong!0

We got our roofbox from there last year - saved us forking out about £200 and it's great.
You don't need guts to post a message - just go for it! It's a great was to get shut of clutter without just chucking it, too. Whatecer you're trying to get rid of, someone, somewhere will want it.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0 -

As a net donor to Freecycle, the best thing I've received is space in my home
As this thread fits better into the Green and Ethical Board, I'll
move it there once you have more OS input.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

My absolute favourite thing that I got from Freecycle is my swing bench. I've had it for 3 years now and it's finally succumbed to rust, so I'll have to get rid of it at the end of the summer, but I've spent many a happy hour gently swinging on it whilst watching the birds (and now my chickens too).
When we moved into this house, we took out the kitchen units and offered them on Freecycle. The guy that took them also ended up taking a couple of manky carpets that we'd ripped out too. He said they'd be brilliant on his allotment!
We've given away lots and received some great things from people on Freecycle.0 -
