Apple sent receipt to wrong email address - IMEI and serial number on it
Bought my new iphone 4 in Apple store and they managed to send the receipt to the wrong email account.
Someone somewhere in the world has my receipt. On it there are details of the phone's serial and IMEI numbers. No phone number nor network details as the phone was bought SIM free. My name is on it but just GBR and no address. Last 4 digits of credit card too.
I'm furious with them as I value my security. They just tell me that no-one can do anything with the IMEI number without knowing mobile number and account details.
Have I reason to be annoyed and should I take this further?

What's to stop me phoning up with a PAYG account and using my IMEI number to block my phone? Or using my legit IMEI number to hack a stolen/blocked phone to make it work again.
It seems there are various ways of using an IMEI fraudulently and I don't see why I should take this chance for Apple's mistake.0 -

You can't just call and quote any IMEI, it has to be one you're registered with. They can see what IMEI's you've been using, the network logs it every time you use your phone.
You can't change IMEI's on whim, it not like it was 5 years ago when you could change them with a pc and some software, you need (very expensive) hardware and hard to find software.
You're worrying about nothing.0 -
I agree with Jon01, there's nothing to worry about0

They could possibly attempt to recall the email, might be useful if it hasnt been read yet0
