Well, another busy week a la casa museumworker. All been tired and a bit short tempered after that long drive back from Ireland. But we have made it to the weekend :j!
Our sideboard has been delivered and looks just gorgeous, if I can work out how to post pictures I will. So pleased with it! Had first welsh lesson which I enjoyed, interesting mix of londoners who want to learn welsh! Have ordered my books for the course, £43 inc delivery :eek:! Tried shopping around online and just couldn't find the latest edition anywhere, so ended up ordering direct from WJEC or CBAC. The £5.50 delivery charge hurt, but at least I have them all now. The plan is to do the whole beginners course in 1 year, I would like to sit the certificate at the end so I have it on my CV, should I apply for jobs in wales in the future. I can then move onto the intermediate, should I want to. I am listening to my CD I bought, yesterday on tube ride in I learnt the days of the week in Welsh! Muttering in welsh to myself is a sure fire way of getting a seat too :rotfl:!
Have been looking at crochet patterns - tried a free heart one which has turned out v cute, and have a heart bunting would like to try this weekend. Hoping to make some as xmas gifts (decorations).
We made it through the week with only about £6 of top up food shopping, thanks to bargains in freezer. Have £5 voucher on way from Mr S after complaining about ridiculously soggy sandwich had the other day. Found 2 schwim cap bottle tops (=£1), and another Amazon sale posted (will update amount when lands in mortgage account).
Plan for the weekend:
* [STRIKE]3[/STRIKE] 1 x washloads [STRIKE](one already in)[/STRIKE] 2 down, one to go
* [STRIKE]work related walk this afternoon[/STRIKE] 3 mile speedwalk in a wool three piece suit, top hat and brogues? Absolutely exhausting :rotfl:.
* [STRIKE]hoover house in progress[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]dust house in progress[/STRIKE]
* buy blinds had to leave for another week, the trip to IKEA would have eaten up a couple of hours and is not urgent, just annoying
* change blinds in bedroom to ones which actually open without falling off the wall! see above
* [STRIKE]meal plan[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]food shop[/STRIKE] a smidgen under £60
* [STRIKE]books back to library[/STRIKE] renewed by phone
* ebay 3 items
* [STRIKE]put stuff in sideboard[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]move items no longer need in dining room to craft room[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]put clean clothes away[/STRIKE]
* sort wardrobe
* exercise tomorrowdid go for 20 min stroll and have cleaned house for 2 1/2 hours, hope that counts!
* [STRIKE]email reductions off final payment for loft to builders[/STRIKE] just shy of £100
* [STRIKE]lovefilm tonight[/STRIKE]
There is more to add, so will do when it comes to me.
Have a great weekend everyone!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

p'nawn dda Museumworker and congrats on learning welsh. I hope you find it fun.
We're also working on decluttering and putting together a craft room, but are at the stage where it is mostly about boxing and reboxing things and trying to sort them out.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -

How much is enough for an emergency fund? I think I'm going to ultimately aim for 6 months mortgage plus living money.
Martin says 6 months but when I first came to these hallowed threads - the advice was generally "it's what you want it to be"
Do you have a list of all the things that normally go out of your account? When I took Voluntary Redundancy I went through my budget spreadsheet and worked out what I HAD to cover (so mortgage, utilities, insurance) and then multiplied that by 6 so it sounds like you are on the right tracks.- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

Mornin mw!
Realise Ive not been back to this and answered the shred challenge!! My house is currently taken over by the diy brigade so no room to do shred at the mo!
good luck on your postwoman walk too!- sounds fun!...
Totally agree re: good bed and good shoes -both essentials in my book!
No idea re: emergency funds- we often have this conversation I guess it depends on things like what other insurances etc.. you would have in an emergency! still havent come up with a figure yet!0 -

Thanks all for input - having read these posts and chatted with OH, we are going to aim for £12k in savings in one year's time, how needs to be clarified after this pay day.
Emailed builders with invoices for delivery charges from shower debacle last year, was £110 off, so now have about £1200 inc VAT to pay.
£5.80 in tfl refunds received.
Found really good online free mp3 downloads to learn welsh - from https://www.saysomethinginwelsh.com. Listened to first lesson today twice and have learnt 10 verbs and about 50 phrases :j! Would recommend to those who have mentioned an interest in learning welsh. Also listened to 1/2 hr of bbc cymru show - although not sure which show might have more talk and less music, so if anyone can recommend one, please do!
A busy weekend, house now clean thank goodness, but a busy day at work too yesterday led to another migraineand been feeling a bit rubbish today too. Been watching great british bake off and gok's cheap fashion show, laughing at his use of spray paints and drag queen inspired gold heel detail :rotfl:!
Have free ticket to west end show tomorrow through work, very much looking forward to it! It is a matinee too, so won't miss out on welsh class eitherMortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
