At the end of the day things breakdown, whether you rent or own, and the LL has acted immediately, cant say fairer than that. A week is more than fair. As has been said there are a million healthy meals you can cook on a hob only.I think it would be most unreasonable to ask for compensation, in this instance.
And Just think you will have a brand new shiny cooker soon, to make up for it :D

    Meal ideas.......

    Anything steamed fish, chicken etc
    Fried steak, chicken etc
    millions of pasta dishes
A million casseroles can be done on the hob
    Stroganoff goulash etc
    Stirfrys
    Omlettes
Scrambled eggs or any way with eggs
    Currys
    rice
    boiled new potatoes
    Sausage and mash
    Nearly anything really!
I know people who dont even have cookers!
Jacket pots etc can be done in the slow cooker
    Pawpurrs x ;)

Sounds like a very decent landlord to me. He's not messing you around, got straight on the case and organised a completely new cooker for you in less than 3 working days. It's hardly reasonable to expect him to do more than that.

And to be complaining because you have been lighting the hob with a "manual lighter"??!! Sheesh - if that's the toughest thing you have to confront in your life...

Landlord said he's replace the entire cooker and would ring us to let us know when will be delivered. He rang today (THURSDAY) to say NEXT WEDNESDAY for delivery. then we have to ring him and he will come over and install it.

If it's a gas cooker then it MUST be installed by a Gas Safe Register fitter with a cookers certificate.

Okay, it was your comment about 'ignition' that started ringing gas alarms.
