It could be a loose wire or a plug that has come disconnected or not making contact.

On my Mondeo, the air bag light was on for months when I bought it, until I got round to looking at it.
It was the plug under the drivers seat, a common fault.

Your best bet is to get a fault code reader :)

Will a fault code reader say something like "check the connection under the driver's seat" if appropriate?

Or will it just say "wiring fault"?

No, but could show up if the airbag itself is at fault, like it did on a car I had!

Of course, investing in a fault code reader would be a good ideal for anyone doing a lot of stuff on there car, as I have been charged £30-£40 for a fault read before!
  • What year and shape Corsa?... Has it lost the Horn and Stereo controls on the steering wheel aswell?... They all run on the same wiring and chances are its the Squib or its wiring that knackered....

On the code reader I should Imagine it would chuck code 31 IRC Voltage resistance or something I cant remember for sure.

I am only driving it at 30-40 MPH the past few days, but my MPG have dropped suddenly, from 22-23 now to 15 MPG - put £10 in the other day, got 39 miles shown as clocked on it, so now confused
  • Could be a Duff MAF or a duff sensor... Coolant temp or Lambda as these will think its not fuelling enough and chuck more petrol in...

Easy job to look into or garage?

I can't smell fuel, so don't think it's running rich - in fuel as well as in money :p
  • Easy enough to change it all but could be changing it all uneeded... Wants plugging in ideally and seeing whats what. Are the Ford Software and the leads available on Ebay?.. I'm not that up on Fords TBH... Might be worth a look... If its anything like the VAG stuff it'll keep you amazed for hours... full of all nerdy stuff stuff such as Air Flows and Temps of this and that... It's great
