A relative was involved in an traffic accident yesterday. She was using her mobile phone when she lost control of the car, crashed, Sadly her child had some minor injuries and probably wrote her car off. No one else involved. She admitted freely her use of the mobile phone to the police. She was told it will go to court. What will the penalties/charges likely to be? Does anyone know how this will effect her insurance claim?
(Yes the womans a fool and I'm livid  and she is rightly very anxious and upset)
Thank you in advance for any knowledge

Sorry but she's too stupid to own a driving licence, best they take it away from her."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

If it is going to court, then she needs to await what the offence is she will be charged with before second guessing the penalty. (It doesn't look like it's just going to be a £60 FPN and 3 points)0

Probably dangerous driving. I think that can have a suspended sentence applied and a driving ban. She may have to retake her test. Not sure on levels of fine but expect hundreds.Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!

Thank you for your reply. Wasn't wanting sympathy at all. In fact the reason I'm asking is partly to do with family problems and other complicated matters. I'm not defending her any way shape or form - in fact quite the opposite.0 -

didn't get the impression you were... just that due to complicated matters myself, dangerous driving of any sort really makes me mad :mad:0
