You get the impression that some Dr's have never had bad news delivered to them, whatever happened to positive thinking. Why can't she prepare them for all scenario's including the one that she may go on for a while yet.

So right Butti-I think her Onc is a little peed off that she won't accept his diagnosis-she is convinced her "alternative" therapy will save her, and she treats his chemo and radio as if they are harming her. I think he talks to her like that as a metaphorical "shaking her by the shoulders" to try and make her realise no amount of cranky american clap trap will fix this..he is probably a little frustrated with her for putting her alternative stuff above his. Then again, maybe I'm just talking carp..

    Tenmah,

    This is an extract of Reading Council's tenancy agreement with their tenants;

3.3.6You (or anyone living with you or visiting your home) must not harass, assault or abuse any other person. To do so is a serious breach of these tenancy conditions. For example, you must not at any time:
    • abuse anyone (verbally or physically
    • threaten, harass or use violence against anyone
    • use abusive or insulting words
    • write threatening, abusive or insulting graffiti
    • damage or threaten damage to another person's home or possessions
    • intimidate any neighbour, local resident, visitor to the area, or any other person
    • verbally abuse, use violence against or try to intimidate any member of the council's staff
    • do anything which interferes with the peace, comfort or convenience of other people
I'm expecting that you have the same.
Bottom line - this shouldn't have happened. 2nd bottom line - the manager should have intervened. 3rd bottom line - you need to take from this that you can just tell them you are going to walk and next time walk.

In the words of that great breaking up line It is not you, it is them!

    Take care of yourself

srm, I think he's annoyed cos she wants all the alternative stuff to work, and she's annoyed because it hasn't and has to resort to traditional methods, but I think the onc may be being a little more harsh than he needs to be
ten, you need to say something and make an official complaint about the tenant, they can't be allowed ot talk to or treat others how they have treated you.

Not talking carp SRM. There's room for all these things when you're treating cancer.
However in my experience when they start talking morphine in any format she will have to have the conversation with the kids, preferably before that.

Well she's been on morphine since last oct 09 Butti....they did wean her off it for a few months early this year but she's back on it now, consequently, she's asleep by 7pm...they are trying her on slow release morphine tabs, but they're not working too well just yet. She's barely eating too-feels sick most of the time..why? US doc says it's the trad treatment,UK doc says it's the quack stuff....who knows?

Feeling really down tonight. I visited a tenant today (I work for the local authority) and she just kicked off - all directed at me! She was really shouting at the top of her voice, calling me a lying toad, saying she would get rid of me if she was my boss, that I was useless at my job and then the worst of all was when she said she thought Hitler was a liar but she would believe him over me anyday.

I was also stroking her dog and she hissed at me to leave her dog alone. She said a lot more to me as well but would take me all night to write it down.

Honestly I felt so small and humilated. I was there with a manager (not mine, but still a manager) and I kept thinking he will step in in a minute and tell her not to talk to me that way, but he didn't. There were two workmen there as well and I just felt embarrassed in front of them.

The worst thing was that I was there helping her and providing an adaptation that would make her life easier, but because it wasn't what she was wanting she just lashed out at me.

I came home and cried.......the thing is I have come off my anti depressants this week after six years and was feeling really proud of myself, so that could be the reason I was upset or it could just be the fact that she was shouting in my face!!

Hi there, just wanted to say I work in housing for the local authority and if a tenant behaved in this way we would get up and leave. It's the same on the phone, if people start swearing, being abusive etc we are told we are in within our rights to hang up on them. (and I have done)

We don't get paid to be spoken to/treated like that.

Well done on being off anti depressants and don't let today bring you down, it's them with the problem, not you!

Butti, when I worked for BA,sometimes passengers would speak to you like that-we were always told to remember they weren't speaking to you personally, rather the uniform, what you represented. However ,BA to their credit said we didn't have to take it and would back us to the hilt if we left the situation. Which I did..but only about 3 times in 15 years...the general public-doncha just love 'em?
