Car boot during England match?

Please could I have some advice/opinions on whether I'm wasting my time?

My friend and I have planned to do a car boot sale this sunday. I have had to arrange a baby sitter and she has had a huge sort out (though I've not got that far yet) so we could cancel it but would rather not. The problem is, it runs from 1pm til 4pm and I've just found out that the England v Germany game is at 3pm.

Now I hate football with a passion so I have no worries about doing the car boot but will we have any customers? Would people come out early but many not bother actually doing a stall therefore giving us less competition?

Has anyone ever done a booty in the middle of a big event and either had great success or massive failure?

Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.

I would have thought that a lot of football fans will be pleased if their football hating partners leave the house during the match. So could work well.

I probably wouldn't bother. My local town which is usually completely full of shopping women during big matches was deserted yesterday. My drive home should have taken me about 35 minutes as I go tthrough two smaller towns and I get blocked by people trying to park or going to the gym whatever, yesterday I did it in 15 minutes as there was no one out there.

I have parking meters outside th ehouse and th eplace was deserted and on a market day, it was really eerie.

I would not do it myself.I think a lot of people will be watching the game even if they dont usually watch football. The shops are very quiet when matches like this take place.(MY OH is gutted we have to go to our daughters dance show at 2.30pm, I for one will glad to be away from it!!)

lol, equally divided :rotfl:(sorry, cross posted with poppyoscar)

I can see both happening which is why I don't really know what to do. It'll only cost us £3 each to sell but I've asked my parents to babysit and don't really want to use up favours unnecessarily (though they are really excited and can't wait to have her all to themselves).

I could really do with the money though as I'm just coming to the end of my maternity leave so am completely skint and have lots of her little baby stuff to get rid of as the house is completely overrun... yes I have spoiled her a bit :o but at the expense of my nice tidy house which is now in chaos.

Thanks for advice so far, any other opinions?

Seriously, forget it!! The entire country will be football crazy on Sunday.

I do the odd car boot, and if I was intending to do one on Sunday then I'd postpone it until the next one comes around!

Yes but although I dont want to watch the match I would not go to a bootsale without my OH.

If its only costing you £3 and your parents are looking forward to having the little one you dont have much to lose by going ahead(unless no one turns up!!!)

Alot also depends on the weather.
Its supposed to be a really sunny day here on Sunday so even though I dont really follow football we have decided to have friends over & a footie bbq.
I usually love a good boot fair, but try to go to the early morning ones when its going to be hot as its no fun when Im getting burnt.

I would wait for another one too. I travelled home yesterday at 3-3.30ish through our local shopping centre which would usually be crammed at that time of day with school kids, mums on way home, etc. It was completely deserted and the few people I did see were Polish (or at least wearing Polish football gear). Never seen the like!
