An on the spot fine usually means it is a first time offense, this means no criminal record so maybe everyone should calm down!

Maybe no record but there is still an offence and as previously said if done in the army there would be no on the spot fine just a quick short sharp bit of justice. An on the spot fine usually means it is a first time offense, this means no criminal record so maybe everyone should calm down!
Maybe I'm too compassionate?!Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.0 -
Yes but how are you so sure he's going to do it in the army? Like I said before it could be one bad mistake he made and that's the end of it.
If he keeps doing it then he deserves all he gets, of course.Trying to spread calmness, understanding and optimism on MSE

Nobody mentioned him repeating it, just making the point if he did whilst in the army it would be a very different and more brutal punisment he would recieve/Yes but how are you so sure he's going to do it in the army? Like I said before it could be one bad mistake he made and that's the end of it.

Personally if it were my son i would let it go to court to give him a proper scare and to get some work ethic in there through community service, or should i really be saying that as the original poster obviously wanted some lovely solution - if that makes me a bad mum so be it i want my son to know that actions have consequences.
As for the "i would rather be a criminal than work in McDonalds" thing, simply disgusting i have been unemployed for too long not through my own choice and i would love any job even McDonalds. Its attitudes such as yours that are the problem with modern day society go back 40 years loads of people did jobs which some people would consider to be "below them" but you know what i suppose they never encouraged crime unlike you!0 -
OP-You say that he's 'waiting to join the Army'..Has he taken his Oath yet? or is he waiting to go to ADSC.
If he has taken his oath, then (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong)he actually will come under military police rather than civvie-and could be in a deep pile of poo.
I remember when my sons took the oath-in the paperwork it said they were now regarded as part of the Armed Forces, and were subject to military law now.
I hope he has disclosed it to the Army, because he'll get kicked out without a thought if he hasn't-and they find out later (and they WILL find out)Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x
If you can't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them.
I will respect your opinions, even if I don't agree with them

Thats a bold statement when you don't actually know anything about day to day life in the mobThen the army is the best place for him. It will teach him respect and to be relevant in part of a team. Could be the best thing for him.
It's turning in to a silly slanging match on here. The OP is protecting his/her son which is a natural thing to do, we're human. Of course stealing is terrible but he needs to realise its a bad mistake and get on with it.
I really think the army is a great way to go.0 -
The mum said shes going to pay it so what was the point of the whole thread???????????????????????
he will never learn that way.Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2023 #59 £7008 Paid £570 Owing £6438 #1 H1 £151, #2 H2 £100, #3 O £200, #4 M £1500, #5 Z £295, #6 C1 £340, #7 L £1084, #8 N £840, #9 C2 £19300 -
the son could always reject the fixed penalty notice and"request to be tried" instead, then it goes to the CPS and they decide what to do, so he may get his day in court. On his appearance, he can say how really sorry he is and how he's about to join our armed forces, the court may then view him as a person of previously good character and this is a "one-time" fall from grace and treat him accordingly....
you pays your money and takes your chances ... of course for a court appearance he will probably be better appearing without his mother in case she starts sounding off the way she has done on this thread, sad to say as others have done, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and with an attitude like his mothers (expressed through her writings on here), he probably thought he was "owed" the milkshake, so perhaps, the son isn't the one really at fault here, just a by product of poor parenting?
so there you have it ... pay the fine or have your day in court, theft is theft and being dealt with by means of a fixed penalty is the cheap, easy option, in many peoples opinions, too easy for offenders in this day and age, just a government ruse to cut down on policing and court costs etc...think of it this way, it could be worse, in some countries he could have had his hand cut off....there's a sobering thought.I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0
