Hey all,
Thanks to everyone on here i've been really analysing my spending ove rthe past few months, and over the summer decided to switch off my boiler (shower heats by electric and used saucepan of boiled water to wash up with). As a result I now have shifted my arrears and have CREDIT in my account! My gas payments have been reduced from £60/month to £26 from october. :j With septembers payments staying at £60 I'll be £100 in credit to help cover any overspend during winter. All in all my debt free date will move forward, and I didn't notice any difference in making the changes.
Thank you all for making me realise that I needed to control my finances. I know my debt wasn't huge compared to what a lot of you are facing, but I was overspending by around £100 a week minimum without realising, and as my income had dropped in July I would quickly have ended up in a major mess if reading tis board hadn't inspired my lightbulb moment.
Hope all are well,
Lil'H

Would you like to open my electric bill? It arrived this morning and I dread to look as last three bills have been based on estimates which I know were low, but I could not afford to pay any more.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Well I'm already challending myself to not turn on the heating till November the first! Which considering I have no double glazing (if fact glass that is so thin it is illegal to replace with same thickness), and dodgy rotting wooden frames which let in all sorts of cold air! Inspired though by my low bill, adn considering in the past i've always sat warm in summer gear in my house in Feb I really should start using jumpers!
Reakon we could get some kind of challenge going!

Pervert!
lol....only joking. My OH only ever likes to share body heat if she wants a new pair of shoes paying forThe problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics(sic) or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were.

My doctor told me that if I really wanted to lose weight I should turn the heating off as I will burn off more energy trying to keep warm.
Seems that this idea could have more than just economic benefits:rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
