Halfords appear to have a kit for diy

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_201507_langId_-1_categoryId_165632

£50 plus £10 deposit on the can for environmental reasons.

Seems a bit excessive and can probably be beaten on price easily by going elsewhere.

I see signs for a guy local to me who does the re-charge for £45.

Kwik fit often have offers on their recharge service, probably cheaper than Halfords cans as well.

Go to a specialist and he'll dye test it for leaks for you, pointless just regassing, if the old stuff got out, the new will ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

The stuff Halfirds sell has a sealant in it to try and fix any leaks. Personally I wouldn't bother though as it's no cheaper than going to a specilaist.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

Don't use Kwik Fit, find a local garage to do it. DIY doesn't seem to be any cheaper than garages and even dealerships will do an aircon service including recharge for £99 or so.

KF will be the cheapest, but you'll come out of there with new tyres, discs and pads...

    Find an aircon specialist.

Polar AirCon are good. They are based in the NW.

Not so. The system loses gas as a matter of course. I forget the exact figures, but it's normal for a system to be regassed at around five years.

    And not so Harry.

I hate air con. well I don't hate it. I just don't see the need over here. All my last few cars had AC, (by chance), hardly used, and still working at 8/9 years old when sold on.

My good lady loves it, has a 2.5 year old car and it's packed up again. No rules I'm afraid, ;)

I used the Halfords kit after my aircon had virtually stopped working. Recharge only used half the can contents so there's enough left for another one when necessary. They also sell just the recharge can if you've already got the hose and gauge which come with the full kit. Perfectly happy with it.
