Typically, the CCTV that should have picked up the attack was not working so although the police have logged their description unless they actually get picked up for something else there is no way they will get arrested for attacking my son.

The unfortunate thing is that some pc do gooders will only say that they were deprived or some other excuse even if the thugs are caught.
I much prefer your sons approach of giving them what they deserve - good on him!
