Yesterday my son had to go to work (his work would not give him time off for bereavement it was lucky that the funeral was on his day off!) and while he was outside having a ciggy he was jumped by 2 Asian men (it was a racial attack as they weren't trying to mug him they were just punching and kicking him). My son got the better of them though and they ran off. He hit one so hard with his jewelers loop that it broke the loop. This happened in Birmingham city centre with hundreds of people walking past and no one stopped to help my son! He said one person stopped to watch but didn't help or even ask if he was alright after the 2 ran off!:eek: My son ended up getting the rest of the day off though which he really needs as he is about ready to snap what with all that we have been going through the past few weeks. I don't think he hasn't properly greived yet for his dad as he has been too busy worrying over me.Murphy knows me too well and sticks to me like glue!0

Thinking of you Sher. Hope things pick up with time. Take care.0

Sher I can't believe that not a single person helped your son. What does it say about our society. I hope he isn't too shaken up by the horrible incident.
I am not surprised that you feel your son hasn't grieved for his Dad yet. I do think that most men find it difficult to let out their feelings - I know my husband really struggled to deal with our son's death even though it was expected. Women seem to be able to talk more openly and I think that helps us cope with many things.
Hang in there. There is sunshine in the future for you although you probably can't believe it at the moment.0 -

I am so sorry to read what has happened to your son - I am horrified at the way society has deteriorated. Ok, the thugs didn't know of your situation but what a sign of the times. I should think that this happening will make your move back to the States even more important.
Fortunately, there are more good people in the world than this sort of low life - hold on to that Sher, and please give my best wishes to your son. :A0 -

This is one of the main reasons I want to get out of Britain so bad. Over the past 17 years I've watched this country go straight to the dogs. The attitude of the nation has gone from nice, helpful, caring people to "screw you Jack I'm alright" which is a crying shame. My son is alright thank God! The 2 that attacked him got a bit of a beating that they didn't expect and ended up running off. I hope the one he hit with his jewelers loop is scarred for life though or better yet has a cracked skull!!!;)Murphy knows me too well and sticks to me like glue!0 -
Oh, I just cannot believe that no one helped your son sher. Has your son reported it to the police, if he has the attack might be on cctv and hopefully they will get the b*****ds who did it.
Hope your son is not too shaken by it, he has enough on his plate at the moment, as do you.
Take care

OMG, how dreadful Sher. I'm glad to hear that at least your son was not badly hurt.
Its a sad state of affairs, but I think that one reason why people are more wary of helping out now is that fact that there are so many stories of knives being pulled.
As CW says, the attack may be on CCTV, which might help catch these "thugs"So your answer don’t be scared of failure
For the only failure is never to try

So very sorry to hear the latest, Sher- I agree with Thrifty....this country is (& has) been going to the dogs for some time, now- yet so many talk about `respect`. They wouldn`t know it if it hit them on the head- I`m ashamed to say I`m British- we just get worse......maybe when I go to Oz in November, I won`t want to come back. Please keep strong, & please don`t think we are all like it. All the best, for you & your family at this awful time. x0
