  • Hi there,

Went to Lidl on Wed spent £11.18, then Tesco & Spent £18.93 on weeks shopping (me, OH & 2 kids) so £30.11 & my budget was £60. Phoned insurance/mortgage broker who can reduce my accident/sickness/unemployment & life asssurance cover by a whopping £13.50 a month & hopefully can reduce my mortgage payments in Dec by approx £53 a month. OH's work are also introducing the childcare vouchers at the end of sept.

Thanks guys I now realise what a great few DFW weeks I've been having, I now feel great.

    Thanks

  • I made banana teabread (like a sponge cake though) and I got the recipe off the Old Style forum! Just look for the recipes on the "Mega Index" and it is on there, possibly under cakes or under bananas!

If I get a minute I will try to find it & post the link.....

  • Can't find it!!

It was definitely called Banana Teabread though.

Basically it was something like this!

    8oz self rasing flour
Quarter of a teaspoon of Bicarb of Soda
    Pinch of Salt
    3 ripe bananas - mashed
6oz of caster sugar (though I had run out so I used brown sugar...turned out fine!)
    2 medium eggs
    3 oz butter or margerine

Preheat over to 180 C and grease a loaf tin well.

Mix together the flour, salt & bicarb of soda in a bowl
In another bowl cream together the sugar & butter/margerine until smooth
In yet another bowl, mash the bananas!
In another bowl beat the eggs!!

OK now you need to mix together the flour with the smooth butter & sugar mixture. Now bit by bit, mix in the beaten eggs and the banana until you have a good consistant mixture.

Place in the greased tin and bake for one and a quarter hours. Actually mine could have done with a tad longer but I would say no longer than an hour & half.

That is all from memory so...hope it's ok! I guess if you know how to make a sponge then adding mashed banana is easy. OHHHHH I added a big handful of dessicated coconut as well actually - at the same time as adding the banana. You can add chopped walnuts as well/instead of.

Good luck if you make it.

I won't post any more recipes here though as I know it is not the right place....but I just couldn't find it on the OS board.

I sent OH to do a bit of shopping with a list rather than go myself but he forgot his Nectar card so didn't get points. And I bought drinks and sweets at the Co-op before we went to the cinema last night rather than buy them there and saved.....ooh, about a tenner probably!!! And I can still get the points put on tomorrow!

Today I have just emptied my Coral betting account of £7 which was winnings.

This account was opened through quidco for the money and will now be closed, not used for any more bets than had to for cashback.

Think thats about it MSE wise, oh and friend is driving tonight on the town so no taxi to pay.
