o and i had a wedding dress arrive by royal mail special delivery this week it cost the sellers £26-27!!!!!!!! So do look at the courier website. I am sure as long as it gets to them and you stay really nice and polite the buyer will not mind how its sent.
the top price for SD 1PM is £10KG @ £24.20 with £2500 insurance0 -
someone can tell me if i am wrong, but can you not send via standard parcels and then pay a little extra for cover eg. up to £500.
would this work and be cheaper?0 -

Thats interesting custardy but on the box it had sp stickers and definitely had 5 £5 stamps and i remember seeing a £1 and some other smaller ones. My child or kitten has ripped the main label off the box now that it was on now lol. I was trying to work out on royal mail website how heavy it must have been in cur that charge and could not. I spent 10 minutes seeing how an earth it could add to up amount. I feel sorry for the seller and was thinking of just splitting the different on postage with them. They have not asked but i know i had an amazing bargain considering dress was new. The seller said it was just under a thousand when they bought it.0 -

if the buyer claims not received then paypal will give them their money back
then you have to go through an RM claim0 -

There is nothing to stop you using it and assuming it arrives safely you have no issues. However for a £200 item it was not suitable as you could have had it delivered and lose a paypal claim as they want to view a signature online. So if you had a dodgy buyer and you knew it had been received, maybe they mentioned they had it and wanted a refund or something, then you would have lost out. No RM claim and you'd lose a paypal one.

Just be careful that carriers insurance does cover what you are sending. Some restrict cover to new items and others have lots of exclusions
Look at the list of no compensation items on parcel2go for instance

Wedding dresses are one of the few items not on the list.0
