I'm sure they realise what they are doing. I'd tell the LL to sort it or you'll hand in your notice.

Thanks for all the replies, hosepipe one sounds good :) !!

I've fired an email off to the agent as they also maintain the property and have been happy to intervene in the past when we had a noise issue, there is apparently a massive document on what you can and can't do as the flats are quite upmarket (according to one of our neighbours who owns their flat so has it) so this may be covered.

If not then can see if talking with them does any good.

I remember reading cases where people have been banned from smoking in their house as the smoke went into the neighbours house. Not sure which relevant authority you would need to contact about the smoke problems.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Develop your own filthy, obnoxious habit. Like urinating off your balcony when they are smoking. Promise to stop when thay do.

Put anonymous letters through all (just theirs maybe) door(s) one night/early morning reminding of the rules on smoking, even on the balcony’s.

A letter goes round, neither the neighbours or your names are mentioned, everyone gets reminded and hopefully it may stop, or at least slows down a bit.

This is not the letting agent's nor the landlord's responsibility, tho I might inform them if I was concerned that the flat you rent was starting to smell long term. If you get no joy from speaking to the tenants directly then you need to go to Environmental Health at the local council.

A flat above me threw beer cans out and then ran a competition to see who could hit them.

My neighbour used to throw their fag ends over my wall and they often landed on my oil tank .I had a word with Mrs next door pointing out they probably didnt realise my oil tank was there .It never happened again.

People in my parents block threw their Christmas tree out of the window into the landscaped gardens and left it there! The most likely culprits were owner-occupiers too.

Why did you not speak with your neighbours in the first instance instead of telling tales?
