    Morning All,
Got lots of bits n pieces to do today. Drs at 830, more decluttering to the chairty shops, little bit of shopping, cleaning the birdcage out and then watching THE match.

Dinner tonight will be something with tortillas - maybe a quesadilla/salad thingy.

Anyway, off to shine the sink

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning all

Sunny, bright and very warm here this morning.

Nan's funeral went well yesterday and we're very proud of DS1 and DS2 who attended their first funeral, they coped very well. The crematorium was absolutely packed and the Vicar made a very good speech about nan and her life, some sad moments and some very funny ones too. So at least we know we can rest in the knowledge that we gave her a good send off.

We were out of the house most of the day so no OS done here, but today I must tackle some ironing and try to photograph items to put on ebay and generally do a tidy-up etc. Only working until lunchtime.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning All

Lovely day again today , one load of washing on the line and another in the WM.
As for the budget I honestly thought it would be worse.

The thing that I am not happy with is the DLA medical assessment especially if it is done by ATOS they are pushed by the government to fail people (They do the IB assessments as well) I have heard of so many people going to appeal over them and winning plus there have been lots of complaints to the GMC over the way people have been treated.:(:(
Hopefully I will have had my knees replaced by then and they can stuff their DLA :which isn't a lot . They target the sick and disabled because it is easy.
They could have saved more by stopping free health care and benefits to people not born in this country.:mad::mad:

Also angry about the fact that the by-pass that we need has been postponed but the guided bus way that links us to scabby Luton that nobody in the town wants has been given the go ahead :mad::mad:
Going to start stocking up on non food items and finish buying all the furniture that I need to replace before Christmas - that will give us a bit of a breather when the VAT rise hits.

    Rant over.

Ladygrim lovely to hear from you; glad you are back :kisses3:

nmlc glad that everything went well yesterday

n9eav you are becoming too isolated if you don't know what month it is or is it just the onset of old-timers disease.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Spending time in the garden today with a good book and taking advantage of the weather :)

Oh well sounds like the WM has finished so offski to put it on the line.

Morning has broken and the cats are wailing!

Just dropped the kids off at school, OH is at work and my yard is smelling much cleaner. Tpday i'm going to buy wipers for the car and go for a job interview then come back and watch the footy :D

Just heard off LL that Diva is fine but tired. Thought i'd post it as we all love seeing her purple magic.

Well the budget is going to screw us over nicely, yep i rely on tax credits to pay my rent. CB to buy uniform etc for boys, and any other benefits / funding is now being closed and shut down due to the cuts. My partner works but were on less than we were on JSA last year. But were just glad that at least one of us is working and were providing for ourselves :D. Well done tories now i'm going to find even harder to find work due to the hundreds of new people going to be out of work:T. Vat at 20% so thats means cheese and salami are straight away is going to shoot up in price, DS1 shouted no way that's not fair (his fave food along with tuna). Fuel going to hit us as well.

ah well will just have to see how it works out.

Well better get a shift on, get changed and shoot off x

Morning all..............................((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

The budget will only affect us in that some items not considered essentials in the supermarket will go up. Housing benefit £400 a week I wish we get £78 a week against our rent, I am not complaining, it helps us, but it does not help to be frugal in your working life and pay into pensions for your old age. What really infuriates me is families who do not work and claim every benefit going. The other thing I was disappointed in was that the huge bonus's that are paid to Bankers were not hit. Sorry rant over.

Today is a run about day, after lunch we have to nip to Aldi and B & Q and then attend a meetiing about the future of Suntrap( www.suntrap-garden.org.uk )

Oatridge College who have used the garden for 25+ years to teach horticultural students and latterly young adults with learning diffculties to garden, and also run classes for amateur gardeners and flower arrangers ,have decided that the garden is no longer sustainable, its a political as well as financial thing and they are handing the garden back to The National Trust for Scotland. We know from experience that the NTS do not want, (nor have they got the funds) the garden and we have more than a feeling they will want to sell it for development. The NTS have a history of closing gardens, one in particular decided to go it alone, and they have been approached to see how they managed it.

Our biggest problem is that a survey carried out last year said the buildings on the garden 2 houses, a potting shed, classroom and glasshouses were not fit for purpose and need £750,000 spending on them. Various suggestions have been made, we need to see how viable they are......and see if we can raise enough money to do some of the most urgent repairs. As a registered charity we should be able to get some help. Apparently Oatridge have tried to get help in the past but have been turned down, they are, of course, a profit making organisation. We do not want to make a profit as such, but generate enough money to repair the buildings and keep the garden open. Keep your fingers crossed for us. There are 4 people who will lose their jobs if the garden closes and one of them will lose his home too, he lives in one of the houses on the garden.

There is quite a bit about the history of the garden on the net if you are interested.

Both OH and myself were involved in the garden as Friends of Suntrap when we were in Scotland before, I did the catering for the open days we had, and was also Vice Chairman. OH took over the secretary's job and re-wrote the constitution to get Charity Status. We re-joined when we came back to Scotland earlier this year and were appalled at the situation they were in. The Friends raised maney for projects in the garden.

I had better shut up and get on with preparing the supper for when we get back from what I am sure is going to be a fairly stormy, protracted meeting.

    I need another coffee...................

Feel so sad with the freezing of Child Benefit for 3 years. Was that not introduced to ensure that money went straight to (usually) mums so no-one else could touch the money? hhhmmm Tories tut tut. LibDem - carey sharey? hhmm this has really annoyed me this morning. Our 'kids' are all older except for 16 yr old DS so it doesn't affect me but I certainly know it would have in the past.

(((hugs))) to those feeling low as a result of the budget.

We filled the car up a few days ago as had expected a petrol increase so at least we have a full tank. Look at the positive spin I'm putting on it:D

Made a huge stir fry again last night. Easy and so cheap to make. Tonight's tea is omelette, potatoes and veg. Going to Sains tomorrow so will get stocked up then.

Hot weather continues and my factor 30 has taken a bashing (A$da orange bottle - fabulous - cost about £3 and my very fair skin hasn't burned. Really recommend it).

I'd also wondered about Haribo - glad she is 'around'.
(((hugs))) to those unwell and down.

    Morning:wave:

School sports day in the field at the back of me,so hanging the washing on the line so I dont feel as though I'm being watched in the garden- very nosy folk around here :rotfl: Lovely day for it though.

The budget will affect us in one way,the VAT increase means that people will be more reluctant to have extensions etc done.It means that builders who aren't VAT registered can straight away undercut you by 20%,which lets face it is a heck of a lot, sigh.Or you'll get people asking if you can do it cash, but you can't run a business like that.

Camelot- the graduation dress sounds lovely, hope you have a great day tomorrow, lots of proud Mum moments.

We were up early to make sure DS1 got up in time to start work an hour earlier,so he can finish in time to watch the match. How that lad will get up unaided if he does rent a house is beyond me.DH knocked on his door twice, then me twice.;)

Not sure what to do for tea-prob just cold meat salad,or could have it at the pub if we watch the match there. They did cheap snacks like chilli or hotpot for £3 last Friday.

Right better go-hope you all have a good day x

PS, Thanks Kezlou- nice to hear Diva is OK.Hope she feels better soon.

    Kezlou,

Most food isn't vatable so your cheese and salami won't have extra in that way. Transport costs for getting them to the store will though so I've no doubt we'll see an increase on foodstuffs again.

I will be affected by the two year pay freeze and a few other things but to be quite honest I'm relieved someone seems to be trying to do something about the deficit.

I'm going through a horrible time at work and am contemplating resigning but I don't want to give the person who's causing it the satisfaction. If it starts to affect my health I will though.

DD has gone to Glastonbury (she goes as part of a media team, so doesn't have to camp) but she has left possessions strewn around the house. It's too hot to do much in the way of OS today, I shall just make sure the garden isn't getting too dry.

Hugs to all those who need one today.

Good afternoon all, boiling hot outside at the moment so I shall stay in the shade .I went to Sainsbobs this morning for a look-see and got lots of bargains fior her reduced. The lady said the6y were reducing stuff early as they expected the shop to be very quiet this afternoon so managed to get
    4 lamb rumps steaks
    4 lamb minted chop
    2 x chickens
    4 stuffed boneless chicken thighs
2 x huge 'taste the difference' best beef steaks easy feed four people
1 large taste the difference minced beef plated pie
all for £18.53 as I had a £2.00 off voucher for any spend over £20.00
20 meals at least plus what ever I get out of two chicken, should get at least 6 meals out of each chicken plus soup from the carcuss's.Then I went to B&Q's as it was 'crinkly day' and bought some nice blue emulsion to do my porch with, and some varnish to do my handrail down to the garden, some tuprs and sandpaper and some clear radiator paint for the rads as I want to spruce them up a bit and with my discount only came to just over £20.00 as some of the paint was discounted So I think I have had a good day bargainwise.Just going to have some pasta salad for lunch and then watch the fottball and hope that we get through .it would be such a shame for all the supporters if we didn't.I'm not a great fan of footie but it is England and my DGS will be asking if I saw it as they are at school today.
I did all the iroing last night when it got a bit cooler so I can have the afternoon off and watch without feeling I should be doing something else.I will make a big pot of tea and have some of my carrot cake that I made on Saturday .Hope everyone has a good day
Budget day wasn't as bad as I thought but then I don't have small children to clothe and my income as a pensioner is considerably less than £21k a year.I have enough for my needs and I think we will all have to think twice about buying things and a spot of make-do and mend won't hurt any of us .
    Cheers Chums
