Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Tue 22st June. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning. Another dry and sunny day here. Work at one, so will give me chance to potter about the house and do a few jobs. First must be to tidy the office and sort out a few bills.
Budget day yesterday, not too bad, although being public sector will see no pay rise, cuts in potential over time, more VAT etc.... I guess i will be worse off. No fuel duty was nice, but the extra VAT will put that up as well as booze anyway, so in effect fuel will go up in Jan along with everything else.
Footy today, can we dig something out of the bag? I hope so, or else we will have to put up with weeks of post mortem analysis on why we were so carp.
I made some elderflower champagne yesterday, so that should be ready for drinking in a week or so.
Nothing much else to say.... Cheers folks

Morning N9eav & all to follow
No real nasty stuff in the budget for me, it could have been a lot worse, have been expecting vat to go up to 20% for ages.
Am up early so can start the office work and get out of the office by this afternoon when the sun comes round and it gets too hot in there. Have got loads of tedious book-keeping jobs to do but will be lovely when its done.
Still more washing to do and the ironing pile is now at scary levels - hope to have that cleared by the weekend.
OH cleaned the inside of the caravan and started kitting it out yesterday - hopefully we will be able to use it soon. Must try and get some photo's of it.
Am at hairdressers this evening - booked before I knew England were playingso I will miss half the match - OH will keep me updated though.
Can't dilly dally on here any longer so off now, have a great day & (((hugs))) wherever needed.x0 -
Morning All
Seem to have got up too early today! Must be the excitement of the Graduation tomorrow. Got a navy and white striped maxi dress, didn't think it would suit me but took a pal along for support and it looks really nice. Also got a small white half cardi to wear in case it's chilly. Went to the big shopping centre last night but couldn't find any navy sandals at all. Ended up buying DD a pair of sandals though!
OS wise I got 2 loads of washing dried yesterday and not much to iron tonight. The weather is a bit overcast this morning but have put the washing out anyway. Some of my beetroot seeds are showing through which I am really happy about and the runner beans are not about six inches high. Maybe it wasn't too late after all!
Hope you all have a good day, not much happening here apart from work - really must clean the house at some point I think I am spending too much time outside! Still I am off on school hols a week tomorrow so there will be time enough to do it then. This time of year at school is mad and so many nights out and collections for people leaving, retiring, etc.0 -

Another one here not really affected by the budget. I can't say I had a lot of sympathy with the staff member who came in wailing about the pay freeze, it will only affect those on over £21k, I'm on about £12k if she's on over £21k she's overpaid, lol.
Off to work soon, wearing the skirt I finally finished yesterday. Got all of DS's washing dry so he can collect that tonight.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Got nothing done yesterday. Oops.
Not very money saving either, I scratched the car in the shopping centre. So have to get quotes today to get that repaired.
My ds has his friend coming round after school for dinner. Will make burgers for them. Will make some for DH as well & he can have them when he gets home.
I have A LOT of housework to get done after my lazy day yesterday, After scratching the car I felt a bit down. Doesn't take a lot, unfortunatly.
Am going away on Fri for the weekend though so I have something to look forward to.
Will try & check in again later.
(((hugs))) for those in need. Have a good day all

Morning all - Budget was a downer wasn't it? Mainly because I have two children who are constantly growing - so they need feeding, clothing, shoes etc etc! Oh well. Have decided to shop in charity and thrift shops only for them and me. I'm looking forward to hunting out the bargains. Second load in the WM, BM on, Coffee on, lunches made and now I can have 5 mins on here.
School is out on Friday - teacher training day, so I'm going to use my clubcard vultures and take the kids to Legoland - any hints and tips??? Planning on getting their early so we can do lots before it gets too hot (hopefully!). DS2 not in playgroup today so we're making gingerbread men for the Church Fete on Saturday!
Have a great day everyone. xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

I am incredibly grumpy. As if being hormonal wasn't enough that time of the month seems to affect whatever condition i've got (no results back yet....how can it take three weeks for blood results???) and I am very sore and a bit dizzy.
I am also extrememly Pee'd off at DH texting his new lady boss yesterday and telling her 'she is the woman' because she gets up at 6am on a morning to help her Mum who is sick before work..... If i'm in bed at 6am I consider it a lay in, I have to get five kids of varying ages ready/fed/where they need to be and get myself organised before I go to work. I have to make sure everyone has everything they need for the day and then after work make sure everyone is fed/has clean clothes, that there is food in the house, that the housework has been done, that the dog is fed/watered that there is money available and on the three days i'm not at my proper job I work at least two of them and now have the kids while DH is at work. I am in constant pain to a greater or lesser degree for 20 hours a day given that I get around four hours sleep, I only get to see my family and friends three times a year......but she's the F***ing woman???!!!!
*deep breathe* Thats what I wanted to say but didn't on the basis that I know i'm over sensitive at the moment and all I did say was 'be careful as this woman has recently come through a bad divorce and you're a nice guy and she could read something into the support you're offering'
Thank you for listeningClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

Good Morning,
Lovelty here today again:D Have hung the washing out, made the packups, and sorted the boys' stuff out. We are leaving at 7.45!!!! as I have a training course today, it sound slike fun, but also like the psychology I studied in first years at Uni. Should be nice to have a change, though. There tile 5, so my lovely sister is putting them out to school (I am dropping them at hers) and bringing them home, she only lives five minutes from the school. They will both be fed, so only myself to see to tonight, and lunch is provided today for me, so very MS:money:
Have a good days OSers!

Morning all,
Lovely day again here :T shame I am off to work. Rubbish has been put out this morning, and I will swish and swipe the kitchen before I go.
Got loads done yesterday, met dd in town, and closed two really old bank accounts, both at least 15 years old, gave the cash to my dd it came to about £10, so she was thrilled. Also got lots of other little bits and bobs done, so all my paperwork at home is clear.
Dinner tonight will be something involving smoked sausage, might do it with pasta, or may think of something else during the day.
Garden is coming on well, but that cold snap we had seems to have slowed everything right down, my veggies are half the size of last year.
Haribo, not 'seen' you for a while hope you are ok xx
Topsy so sorry to hear of OH's dog, how sad xx
Ok better go and make my lunch
Have good days all xx0 -
Don't know if she's still lurking here, Redruby, but I had a wee chat with her elsewhere the other week, and she seems as busy as usual, it was the twins' 9th birthday. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Morning Everyone
Its been ages since I posted but with the title of todays daily reading as 23rd May 2010 I had to post if only to ask N9eav if he'd been at the cooking sherry again cos to the best of my knowledge its the 23rd June!! Or have I been dreaming?:rotfl:
Its far too nice weather for domestic indoor duties so I've been plonking my botty under my parasol with a good book and as the kids have all been inhabiting the garden with me the house has remained tidy.So imo very OS:rotfl:and as for the dust that can wait for a rainy day to be tackled:D
jc2703 your hubby should think himself lucky he isnt married to me cos he'd have being having surgery this morning to extract his phone from his nether regions. So you arent being grumpy I think you've behaved like a saint:A
Anybody heard from Diva recently?I've scanned the daily occasionally but never seen her post.Is she poorly again?
